Strange one

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Picked up a vRS a week ago and set about having the belts changed and a full service by a trusted mechanic using dealer parts. Now on the odd occasion when slowing down at about 2000 rpm, 30mph roughly, I get a rattle or scrape noise from the engine bay as if it were a bearing or tensioner being spun quickly. This noise only happens very occasionally, maybe once every 25 miles but is still a bit worrying. The car pulls and revs as it should with no smoke at all.

Any help greatly appreciated.

hi there,i had a friend of mine change my alternator belt, and i previously had my cam belt changed, quite close together.not long after, had a bad screeching noise..turns out the alternator tensioner, and bearing assembly had seized..so i'd get that checked as that could be it!hope that helps.

The problem is no more confusing, still intermittent but lasts for longer than previous and I have experienced a loss of power at the same time although if you sink your foot the turbo then spools and off you go but with more lag than normal. Possible turbo problem? Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated as this week is slowly turning into a shi##er. Booked into the garage on friday morning for a check over.
