You say 'don't touch any of the pedals from this point on' my Fabia Greenline 11 won't start without depressing the clutch. Is there another way of starting the car?

It was the meth .... Well that and being on my phone on the last few posts.

I've disconnected +ve and -ve leads for 20h, shorted them few times, take off the ecu, all kind of stuff, but ecu wont fully hard reset to it's default.

I know it's not fully reset based upon learned data from engine/readiness (3 tests are still learned).

Can anyone suggest how to hard reset Bosch Motronic 5.9.2 to factory defaults (I need default map to start over). Not sure what happen, but this was an easy job in the past. Now, it looks something is wrong with the electronics on my car.

Thx..

As in you have a map on there and want it back to default ??

Yes pls :)

You need a mapper to do that then. All the reset will do is set defaults for the fuel trims etc. If you want a standard map back then you need it flashed back on.

Thank you for your answer.

Just to clarify one thing....I know for sure that your statement is not applicable for this ECU because I did this many times before and ECU unlearned all readiness tests and adaptive values in past (it does not do it now). I saw it on VCDS on measuring blocks and clearly felt it while driving. I have this problem after upgrading to OBD2 LPG which is connected to K-line. Sometimes VCDS has no connection saying that K-line is short to ground. All I need to fix this is to remove LPG fuse and K-line is ok. Not sure, yet, what is going on here...

Nevertheless, thank you, once again, for your answer.

We got our wires crossed. I'm talking about engine mapping and you're talking about resetting learned values.

OK, but what Fabia? Age? Engine type?

@TonyThorne87

Welcome.

Saying the age of the car and the engine might lead to you getting assistance.  You have a very helpful member that replied to you.  (not me!)

Sorry mate, new to all this. Fabia 1.2 on a 57 plate petrol

I would think the throttle body requires adapting with VCDS.

Ok thanks, that’s back to the garage then where the problem started when they changed the battery. The car has had trouble starting since and pinking badly. Took it back and they changed the spark plugs and said no faults showing. Got it home and it got worse. Now rarely starts. They can’t look at it again til mid next week. So I looked at probable causes and one was clean the throttle body, which I did and thought I’d cracked it . The next one that came up was this reset, which as I said did to the letter. Turned it off after 30 mins and finally idling well. But it struggled to re start and it’s that I noticed I couldn’t rev it.

Really appreciated your time
