Coilovers

Featured Replies

Ok,

So i'm in the process of upgrading to some coilovers, I just don't know what to go for! At the minute it's between some KW V1's and the Vogtlands (Links below). If anyone has either of these setups, what do you think of them etc etc. OPINIONS PLEASE!

KW's:

Vogtlands:

Thanks

KW V1`s lol, no brainer tbh

Ive got Spax RSX ones at the minute and wish i went for KW V1s.

At that price the KW's hands down. They are the same £££ as the Weitec's at the moment. I'm quite tempted myself actually :giggle:

ive got v1's there awesome

Lol fair enough, from what little reviews there are on the Vogtlands they are supposedly KW equivalents and they won't rust. Looks like I will be going with the KW's and getting plenty of grease on them!

:-D I'm excited!

I know often some less know brands are often big brands in other countries, but I`d go for KW over every other brand personally

They are like £200.00 more though don't really have that kind of money :-(

Ive got KW V2's and wouldnt have anything else there awsome had them for on for over 3 years and 60k miles and never had a problem

Does anyone know If there is some kind of spray I can coat them with to avoid rust etc? No one is allowed to say 'nixwax' for waterproofing coats either! :-D

copperslip should do, or another good one is insulating tape wrapped round the threads

another +1 for the KWs - a steal at that price

:-D think I shall be ordering the KW's tomorow morning then! Should be fun... What's the common drop on the Fabias, want it low but not silly low.

want it low but not silly low.

That's how we all start....

1st you'll fit with rear adjusters in and wind down approx 50%. Drive for a few miles/days.

Then you'll think it needs to go lower and you'll wind the back down all the way, with the fronts levelled to match. Drive for a few miles/days.

Then you'll realise that with the adjusters in, it is still too high, so you'll take them out. Drive for a few miles/days.

Then you'll say, 'balls to it, my sump still isn't catching so I may as well take the rear cups out to gain an extra 4mm'.....

....then you start cutting springs or saving for air :p

Happens to the best of us :)

Wow that seems like a horrible downwards spiral to get caught up in, oh well.... That's why metal sump guards are being manufactured more ey? :-D

Lol, exactly as Gareth says. I'm about to put some new KW's on mine & am not looking forward to the first few weeks of high riding before it's settled

So keep it high until it's 'settled' then slam it?

Not massively high, but take into account it'll drop a little more in the first fee weeks then adjust to taste.

Matt

How come the KW are so cheaqp at the moment, almost the same price i paid for my weitecs! last year emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

BARGAIN! BTW emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Just touching the tops of the tire is prob the ideal height for the roads around Newcastle. Any lower and you need some serious pothole swerving skills :giggle:
