How Long - From order to delivery?

Featured Replies

Skoda UK were offering loan cars, a few months back, to those customers who had no other vehicle. I was given a 60 plate Octavia Elegance DSG for 2 months until my Superb arrived.

It might be worth having a chat with your dealer/Skoda UK to see what they can offer.

Oh, and I waited over 200 days for my Superb, but boy was it worth it :D

Sorry Twelvebears but that is a load of B.S. this problem has been going on for over 12 months, so Skoda and the dealer knew that the quoted 10 - 12 weeks was totally unrealistic and was never going to happen.

Look at the link I posted in post #2 for proof.

I've just been informed that my car is likely to be about 6 months from order to delivery. :-( It's not been confirmed yet, but as the original 10-12 weeks has been an gone without even a build date confirmed, it doesn't look good.

Massive disappointment as this means the car won't be delivered before our planned drive to Spain for our hols, so we've had to book flights and hire car. Not the end of the world as between fuel, tolls and overnight accommodation there and back, it will be about the same cost but not as much fun.

After a very honest call from Skoda UK Customer Services, it seems their whole supply process is groaning under the strain of sales figures which are 25% up on what they were expecting. The combo of 2.0 CR diesel and DSG is a particular problem. So much so in fact that Skoda employees have been band from ordering CR + DSG cars because of customer demand.

Bugger.

That's worth knowing, thanks. Perhaps a bit foolish of me to take what I was told on trust.

Anyway flights and hire car are booked now and I'm not really going to be any worse off. Also the boy is glad we're not driving down so at least someone's happy.

In some ways I'm glad I didn't know the truth. If I had I possibly wouldn't have gone for the Superb and would have ended up with something not as good.

Would still like to get my hands on it asap though.

Not foolish of you at all, just a bit underhand of the dealer when they knew full well they are taking twice as long to arrive

Your second comment is probably the exact reason why the dealer was less than honest about the lead times.

Ordered Elegance Combi CR170 4X4 in Steel Grey with several extras on May 15 from Listers Skoda in Coventry (a new Skoda dealer only been open a few weeks). Salesman was very open about long delivery times and predicted an early November delivery date.

Two weeks later I received an indicative build date of week 43, last week in October, with predicted delivery middle of November.

Superbs are not the only Skoda models with long lead times. A friend ordered a Fabia Greenline, no extras, in middle of February and was given a build date of the middle of June. Two weeks ago dealer told him that build date removed from Skoda order system with no replacement date. Now told by Skoda UK that it is unlikely car will be built before December.

The Skoda build allocation system seems at best arbitary and at worst totally chaotic. I wonder how dealers are coping with the situation and how many orders they are losing?

Chris

Ordered Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI 170 Elegance DSG on May 04 with lots of extras including sunroof, supplier quoted 10/12 week delivery, also shown on order form. However sales guy indicated at least six months for delivery. I am in no rush, so long delivery is not a problem. Receive weekly email updates on progress.... all say build date not available so far.

This is my second attempt to buy a Skoda Superb, the first dealer I approached in the West of Scotland was unbelievable! I ended walking out after giving them some very abrupt comments. With dealers like this and Skoda's black hole delivery system, must loose them a lot of customers.

.... Why do they spend money on offers and TV adverts for cars they cannot supply ?

Not only Superbs are effected, check out..... failed-promise.com

For info, hopefully the problem with Rosso Brunello, the colour I've ordered, is over. Merck JAPAN, supplier of the specialty automotive pigment for this colour, restarted production in May and returning to full production in June.

The long lead times seem to be affecting other VAG cars as well. I'm expecting late December delivery on my Superb just ordered - no fancy options, just added the wood trim, Candy White - and whilst this seems a long way off, I was quoted six months on a new Passat as well.

If it wasn't for the 20% off offer finishing I'd have canceled, but that's only going to cost me more now to find one in stock.

As for the dealer, they told me 10 - 12 weeks and were great at answering questions and making changes until I asked for a build week, then no one would return my call. I found out my build week through another Skoda customer who was after his build week and was good enough to badger them for mine too.

It seems to be something with Skoda UK. I ordered my combi with 4x4 DSG, panoramic sunroof, and a few other extras, and the lead time was 4 months. I ordered it in min-January, and picked it up on Thursday. So far, I've only had the opportunity to do 1000km or so. But tomorrow, I finally get to leave for Manchester, so it will be a good chance to break in the engine and to get a feel for the car at the same time.

Anyway, on Saturday, I was back at the dealer with a friend who is currently looking for a new family car. If he orders now, he would have it at the end of September, which makes 2.5-3 months lead time.

There shouldn't be any real reason why lead times in the UK are so long compared to here (for example), as they are all built in the same place... the only difference being they need a short ferry ride to get over to the island.

Well credit where it's due to my dealer (Palmers Watford). They called today to say that they wouldn't let the delay affect my holiday and that if it's not delivered in time (10th August), they will lend me one of their s/h stock Superbs.

Can't really moan about that.

First post here - hello everyone.

I've ordered a 140 DSG Combi 4x4 Elegance, Steel Grey with a fairly chunky number of options.

Latest news having placed the order on 14th May (Confirmed signed on the 23rd), is a build week 38 (Week Commence 12th Sept). Having heard various horror stories I was bracing myself for delivery November or later, so I'm tentatively hopeful....

Looking forward to the car immensely, we have a newborn with ever expanding amounts of clobber, which has dictated a larger wagon, and our living in the middle of Scotland on roads that are the last to be gritted meant the 4x4 was a must. It'll go on steel wheels and Nokians immediately, meanwhile I'm hoping for concrete evidence of the dual sunvisors (a feature I loved on a previously owned Touareg) so that I can request the addition of them to the spec.

Asked my dealer for a Greenline 1.6tdi Ambition saloon but wanted one in black magic pearl metalic.

He rang me back to say he would have one in 2 weeks. Got it in 10 days!Probably got lucky

Replacement for my very tired Octavia VRS ordered on Friday last week.

Have ordered the 170 DSG Superb Estate with a "few" extras :) . Hope to get a build date this week but was told 20-25 weeks before I placed the order. :S

Ordered my Sbp CR 4x4 DSG Elegance with pano, MY12 updates (dbl.visors, vent. seats) and was warned by dealer that this is the toughest combination - diesel+aut.+4x4+pano, so got an estimation of 12-16weeks when signing the contract in the beg. of May, but no build date yet. :wonder:

Five months in from ordering, I'm still unsure that I even have a build date. The lease company have contacted the dealer whom insists that the build date is week of July 3rd, but the delivery date to me is September - Should it take this long to reach the UK.....

Yep, I waited around seven months for my Superb... but believe me, it really is worth it. Ok, so the system isn't perfect, but the car pretty much is, and it meant I was able to save extra for the deposit and hence reduce my payments.

I mean, you can buy a Ferrari that you never even "get"... so a few months waiting for a Superb isn't worth getting stressed about

For me the issue is not so much the length of time from order to delivery, but the ever changing goal posts. Third build week, the other two went by were then re-scheduled. Who can say if it wont happen again. I would rather they say its going to be a date and stick with it...

Completely agree. Skoda seem to have a death wish by upsetting many would be customers.

When I speak to dealers they seem to have a feeling of apathy or the unscrupulous ones just lie about delivery.

Do any Skoda customers services people read and respond in Briskoda forums ?

Do they read and understand "Skoda's Customer Promise"

Fortunately I am in no rush for delivery, but it would be good customer service to receive confirmation of my order/ build date direct from Skoda, even if build date was 6 months away. Placed my order some six weeks ago, no build date or any communication from Skoda to date.

My dealers (CarQuake) have contacted me with three different build dates in their last three e-mails. It's not their fault. I'm sure they would be only too glad to get a speedy and accurate delivery date. A pal of mine who sells another make is, however, envious of the extra sales Skoda is chalking up. I've waited so long (order Xmas '10) that I'm getting ****** annoyed. I had no idea how long it would take when I ordered and, sadly, I arrived at this excellent forum too late to take heed.

I agree with the post above, my latest build date was 'scheduled' when I tried to cancel the order. We will have to see if it really happens, but I wish I had chosen another manufacture as I need the car for holidays in August and don't want to spend out on roof bars for the car I currently have on loan - Insignia knowing they wont fit the Superb...

i order my skoda superb combi elegance 4x4 170 CP with other 16 optional's (ventilated seats, panoramic roof etc.) I added 2 options from MY2012 last week and i asked the dealer to confirm that this 2 options are added in the order.

He send me a print screen of the ordering applications.

I so this there: my order from 15.04.2011 .. no build date estimation date : week 47/2011.

And after this i sow another order form another client:

order form 13.05.2011 he already had build confirmation and the delivery date was : week 27/11.

His order was superb combi ambition white with only 4 extras (but i didn't sow what) TSI with 125 CP.

So i'm thinking if they can build the car in only 1 month this means the problem is with optional or with 4x4 or with 170CP engine.

I sow that we are a lot of people that are waiting for the cars and our orders are different. some one have panoramic roof some don't. same with 4x4 same with 170CP engine.

An i believe there are 2 options:

- or the panoramic roof or 4x4 is waiting from the suppliers (The engine is made by them). But i don't see how this is possible because there are few cars order month by month.

- or WV don't want to sell lots of superb cars with premium optional in order that the clients will be redirected to vw passat or audi a6.

You can confirm that when you ordered, and when you told to the dealer the options that you want, the dealer told you that it will be a minimum 4-6 months.

And it is true that the Superb is a real competitor for passat and also a6.

Diesel and manual is quite ok and 4x4 shouldn't be issue. But pano s/r might add a month roughly (for me did). Also MY12 extras can hinder. Still you should be better off than me as diesel+aut is the biggest problem. But I was quoted 12-16 weeks, although not sure - might end up in w47 also...

TSi as petrol is not interesting - they're built like normal cars.

But for others who complain and praise other brands - when I was looking for VW Passat 2.0CR DSG 4Motion dealer suggested not to take Xenons as in that case I'd be waiting minimum 6mnths...

I'm told by the dealer that it's principally a lack of engines (he says they're going to "emerging markets" which I'll take to be China and India), especially the 170TDI and with the DSG box it's just more time added on.

It'd be nice if a dealer was reading this thread and came up with the truth ;)

I'm happy to wait for mine (no build date yet) as finally (after nearly 4 years) I have worked out how to fold the seats flat in my Octavia for my camping trips!!! :giggle:
