Yeti badge dimensions

Apologies if this post offends some people

SWMBO loves the Yeti but cringes at the Skoda name, This prejudice harks back to the days when you had a Skoda or Lada if you couldn't afford a car

I am looking at obtaining some retro badges that just have the flying arrow motif but need to know what the dimensions of the boot and bonnet emblem are.

I am hoping to get these before delivery of the car, hence the question

Any help gratefully accepted

I'm sure there are VW or Audi badges that will fit - otherwise change the wife ;)

Front Bonnet Diameter = 88mm

Rear Tailgate Diameter = 110mm

The front badge is Ø90 mm and the rear Ø110 mm. Both sit is 2-3 mm depressions in the sheetmetal, so I wopuld suggest using these dims +0 and -2mm if you have new ones made. The badges are domed a little, but not easy to measure accurately. The middle is probably around 10 mm higher than the outside rim.

You should conviince SWMBO that she should be proud of the Skoda - see how much you saved and got a better vehicle than the expensive fashion brands. OTOH, if she likes Gucci bags and the like, forget it, it will be like pushing a wet noodle uphill.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm tempting, but as they say " if you think getting married was expensive just wait til you see the cost of the divorce"

no, SWMBO has been a faithful soulmate for over 30 years and I think the cost of some custom badges from Pastyboy will be money well spent

thanks for info

You'll be surprised how quickly 'badge snobs' come round when they've actually done some mileage in a Yeti, and when they've seen the admiring glances it gets, and the people who come up to ask about it saying "I saw that on Top Gear" or whatever. You can quickly develop a 'reverse snobbery' ... ain't it true comrades? B) "You paid HOW much for your BMW/Audi/VW? How does it feel to have spent all that money and ended up with an inferior car?"

My first Skoda, proud to fly the flag - make the badges bigger!! I suppose she will be sick whilst looking at the steering wheel, or perhaps some Gaffa Tape will be used? I think we are in a very select club, who else can boast such a lengthy waiting list?

Ive got a couple of nice VW badges that would probably fit, but why ??. Have had various Golfs and Audis down through the years and all were fine cars went on to Skoda when they were taken over by the VAG group and have never regreted it (must admit I was a bit cautious about buying my first Fabia). Why pay thousands for a wee bit of plastic ?? Duuh

found this on a Skoda concept car

Microsoft Paint is not as good at image manipulation as Photoshop so I can't show you what the badge would look like on a black pearl car (PEARL CARR!!! Blimey, I am older than I thought)

IMHO I think it would look outstanding

thanks for everyones input

While I don't have any problems showing the Skoda name, I do think those badges look cool. Love the blue background one on the blue car ... can you get the badge with a red background?

Contact Pastyboy he sounds a really nice guy and I am sure he could help

Own a Yeti for a day and she'll want the Skoda badges back!

I'm far happier running around with Skoda badges than Audi or VW. If you know cars, it's shown up in an instant by other people's reaction to seeing you driving or owning a Skoda. I'd far rather have a car put together with thought and care in the Czech republic by workers who take a pride, than to drive one made in the other countries that VAG use to build cars.

If you buy an Audi or VW, there is a good chance that it is not actually made in Germany! And people actually pay a premium for those more 'prestigous' badges  .

If anyone takes the p... out of my Skoda(s), I can be certain that they know nothing about decent cars :p

Those bespoke Pastyboy badges do look quite

+1

So Bohia, you won't be wanting the extra available 'It's a Skoda. Honest' stickers. :giggle:

You ought to remind SWMBO that the Yeti is a cool car because it is a Skoda - just ask Top Gear.

Oh I am with you all the way there. I know how far Skoda have come. You don't win customer satisfaction surveys so often without having a damn fine product

maybe, as its made from predominantly vw parts I should have an 'It's a VW. Honest!' made for SWMBO! just a thought

I like those badges very much although I have no problem with Skoda. I remember the Lada jokes and bearing in mind they were built using time expired Fiat tooling and poor materials the jokes were justified. Skoda on the other hand have a long proud competition history and the old rear engine cars were sturdy and clever. The jokes about Skoda were misplaced and funniest to those who couldn't tell one from the other.

Please let pastyboy know there may well be a demand for his stylish product and keep us informed of your progress-I'm a likely customer.

I will certainly do that and will definitely post a picture or two when the beastie arrives

I think you are doing yourself and your Yeti a disservice by replacing the badges.

I came to Skoda from Audi and BMW and whilst my dear wife took in a sharp intake of breath because it was a Skoda I think she's eventually coming around to liking it.

Me, well I'm more than happy to display the badge, it's not pretending to be anything it's not. Good quality, stylish, practical, economical, good performance and very much sought after. I'm surprised at the number of people who have approached me enquiring about it and they all seem to know it gets good write ups in the motoring press.

It's a Skoda, what's more it's a Yeti, so be proud of your purchase and fly the flag.

Did they ever get made?

I'd be interested in a set for front, rear and steering wheel of my Yeti.

By owning a Skoda with a Skoda badge shows you are a person who is in the know..... B)

Juast tell her that the badge is the only part that is Skoda, take a look under the bonnet, everything has Audi or VW stamped all over it.
