Just out of interest how long will that REVO air filter last ?

I only do about 5,000 miles per annum.

Second question is do Skoda actually change the air filter on the service schedule ? I presume it would be 2nd, 3rd or 4th year ?

Can any one clarify both or either the above.

Many thanks.

Fitted a K&N to my Superb and it lost 2 hp on the dyno but has gained 1-2mpg on average

As mentioned a few times, I changed filter on my Mk1 Furby to a K&N whilst on a RR. I gained a massive 1.1 hp (less then 1% gain). I don't know if a petrol car will respond better, than a Diseasel.

What are peoples thoughts about K&N universal induction kits, like the Apollo & Typhoon? Would they work with the vRS

I think Janner would be best to answer this one - on the basis he has done lots to his vRS and probably considered most of these sort of thing for the car.

Well I took the airbox out and, I dont see what VW/Skoda were thinking when I seen inside.

From the inlet pipe the air has to go through a small channel as there is a plastic wall between the inlet and the filter.

Surely removing this wall would greatly increase the amount of air the engine can get to as it would free up the air flow

MS Paint ahoy

i would imagine this has been done for sound proofing, it is essentially a baffle to reduce resonance from the intake

Who is going to be first to take it out then? :giggle:

More air better combustion, right?

Any obstructions cant do it any favours!

Imagine running a mile and breathing through a straw :D

I do have a dremel...Would only take a few mins and give it a smoothing with sand paper to make it look nice...

Less talky more cutty!

:D

ive taken it out. opened up the fins in the top front grill, opened up the front of the slam panel and blanked the open part, blanked of the valve in the airbox and sealed the joints. basically i modded the stock intake as much as possible. would like to try the k and n and the revo drop in filter out of curiosity just to see if there any gains with modding the original system.

Any difference in the induction noise?

not really but i did all this within a few days of having the car. the filter its self seems to be the biggest restricting factor with the way mine is now.

Hmmm...

Do I mod the original airbox and get a Revo/K&N Filter, or get rid and get "proper" Induction kit.....

Decisions!

Just fitted my revo filter today- had a small blast down the road to test it out- definately a nicer induction sound- hopefuly will see some improvement in mpg later on

Glad your pleased with it. Had my in now for 700 miles, nicer sound, no MPG improvement :'( , would think no BHP improvement either, although no idea on that one unless it was Rolling Roaded i guess ?!?

Enjoy it though, a nice little upgrade for not too much dosh.

What hose sizes will I need? Picked up a Pipercross Viper induction kit which has a 70mm connection.

Can you squeeze and stretch them actually? Say the car has a 67mm outlet, can I put a 70mm pipe over and tighten it down with some clips or put a 67mm pipe and squeeze it over to fit onto a 70mm pipe and clamp it down?
