Octavia DPF 2.0Tdi 9170)

Featured Replies

Hi my DPF is at 90% full, VW took it off and cleaned it however it hasnt removed much soot, it is still at 85%, is there anyway of cleaning it so it comes down abit more, or does anyone know where i can get a good used one?

Thanks any suggestions?

I know a popular response in here will be to remove it or gut it out and have it mapped out all together given better performance and mpg im sure someone who knows more will be along to advise better soon

Just a quick question guys in regards to removing the dpf, won't it be compulsory in 2012 to have a dpf, so if i remove it will i have problems getting the mot done next year?

i didnt think it got removed i thought they forced the car to regenerate??

It is possible to force a regeneration, we do this for customers as well as removals and remapping. Most Audi/VW specialists should be able to do that for you but if you struggle to find one then we're only an hour or so away.

There comes a point where, if the DPF soot level can't be reduced by forced regeneration, that it is no longer functional and must be replaced. This happened on my CR vRS earlier in the year.

I read a post on here somewhere, a firm can clean them out for you but I think It costs around £300/£350.

Cheaper than a new filtre

I sure am glad i have the bkd engine, happily without the dpf, not had any issues with my car, still runs perfect after its first year and 44k on the clock.

Hi Ajmal

Posted the following on your "car from hell" thread earlier, you could be our Guinea pig for the cleaner.

been having a google and found the following

AA experience

We're seeing some evidence of these systems failing to regenerate too, even on cars used mainly on motorways. It seems that on cars with a very high sixth gear engine revs are too low to generate sufficient exhaust temperature. Occasional harder driving in lower gears should be sufficient to burn off the soot in such cases.

Hope this helps.
