Xenon Lights

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 05 vRS, with headlight washers and I read on more than one occasion that the xenons automatically came with headlight washers.

Now my car has headlight washers, but no xenons, so...?

Could you just opt for the headlight washers or could you delete the xenons option??

Id really like to have them, are they super expensive to fit, or just expensive and is it a pain in the behind to retro fit them?

Thanks

Headlight washers were standard on (UK Spec anyway) Elegance, L&K and (v)RS.

To fit decent performance Xenons, you'd need to change the headlight reflectors, and AIUI change the headlight wiring so that the dips remain on when the mains are selected.

I don't know about Irish law, but the UK DoT takes the view that you should also fit automatic headlight self-levelling.

It'll be way cheaper and easier (and possibly also sidestep legal issues) to fit something like Osran Nightbreaker +.

Espensive to buy, I can get them through work for £319 each plus vat for complete units. Best bet is used but to say there rare is an understatement...

You sure they were standard on the vrs...

Neither washers or xenons were standard on a vrs.

Which is odd, considering the vRS was supposed to be based on the Elegance.

Could be Irish Spec cars were different to Uk spec?

My vrs hasn't got headlight washer's or xenons altho i wish it did because i think standard lights are crap

Thanks all.

Yeah Ken, Irish law is the same as the UK with regards to the Xenon lights.

Might just go with better bulbs so.

It is annoying, as I have seen 3 other Irish Octy vRS's with washers and they have xenon's. :'(

IIRC, the Irish spec vrs came with more than the UK one did.

Washers are definately not stndard on the vRS.

Haven't got them on mine but my mates octavia estate TD has

The previouse owner might of put them on?

I like the look of the washers on the bumper.

Its not that hard or expensive to do that bit, its the lights and wiring that's the mula.

Iirc it was a £650 option on the vRS, hence why I didn't get them. Wish I had tho.

Billy

I got my 02 RS back a few months ago it has the washers and factory Xenons. Id say they would be quiet difficult to change, the wiring and housing compared to the normal ones is pretty crazy (Had to change my side lights yesterday) You would also need to get a hold of a VAG COM to adjust the Control module for the xenons.

Washers must have been a seperate option so....?

Cars with headlamp washers also have a larger (5.5l) water tank.

What was different spec wise between uk

And irish vrs's?

I'd love to actually see the option list for the mk1 vrs,

The WRC version of the Octavia Vrs had Xenons/washers as Standard

Disclaimer:- I think

yup the wrc was a spec addition that iirc had all the options

Xenons(came with washers and 5l bottle)

Maxi Dot dash

Sat Nav

scuff plates in door sills

pos a sun roof, parking sensors and cruise control, mud flaps?

all these were options, I never got told about them tho when I purchased mine in 05

I have the 5lt bottle so def is factory fit.

I just assumed headlight washers must mean xenons, but when I went to look at the car no such joy. Still bought it though! :)

Washers must have been a separate option.

So, if anyone comes across some xenons for sale, let me know.....
