I would imagin about £20 - £40, it depends a lot on where it is. Chances are the surrounding metal has also rusted away and a larger patch would be needed.

I have my own mig welder and with those you can really control the weld and feed the wire into the hole. Small holes can be filled by 'stitching' round the edge reducing the hole size until filled.

However when there is extensive corrosion (thinning the metal) it just sparkles and the hole gets bigger and bigger as it melts away.

It might be cheaper in the long run to get a new back box
