Car cleaning products

Featured Replies

I need to invest in some new car cleaning kit and have generally used Autoglym and found their products to be very good. Just curious as to what everyone else uses or recommends before I splash the cash.

Does anyone have any must buys or must avoids?

'Greased Lightening' Showroom Shine from Ideal World on TV or ProShine (same stuff) from E-Bay.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Doesn't need water, just apply with spray, wipe dirt off, and buff up to polish with separate micro fibre cloth.

Can do whole car, paintwork, plastic trim, glass and alloy wheels in about 3/4hour.

Suits me, as I can do as much or as little of the car at-a-time.

Ideal for removing bird droppings !!!emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Shine lasts for ages/weeks or until car needs cleaning again.

Valet Pro snow foam

CarLack Nano cleaner and sealer

Collinite 915 wax with DAS-6 polisher

Bilberry wheel cleaner

PoorBoys wheel sealant

Phil

Wash with Dodo Born To Be Mild shampoo

Optimum Car Wax and Optimum Opti-Seal

Final wipe down with Meg's Last Touch (if needed)

Wheels with Autobrite Very Cherry wheel cleaner

Exterior trim (black plastic) with Chemical Guys New Look Trim Gel

Interior with Poorboys Natural Look Dressing

To be honest, there is no right or wrong product, people will use what they feel comfortable with and at a price point they can afford. Autoglym products are a very good starting point and offer good value for money.

Foamcannon with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash&Gloss

Be careful with newly painted areas! No wax the first two months to let the paint "dry out" as my paint shop put it...

I use coffee and donuts... well, that's what I get when I go for my free car wash each week :)

Before I get all the "I'd never let anyone else wash my car" type comments, I don't go that often... I'm more an Autoglym shampoo man, using the twin bucket method, followed by Autoglym Super Resin polish (when required, not used on the Superb yet) and Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection. Wheels are AutoGlym wheel clean and leather is Autoglym leather cleaner followed by Autogylm Conditioner. I've been using Autoglym products for a number of years now and whilst I'm sure there are other equally good, if not better products out there, they certainly do the job for me :)
