Featured Replies

I bought a new fabia in 2006 which i bought with skoda finance. The salesman told me it would be best to take out PPI which i did.

i feel i was forced to buy PPI.

Do i claim from skoda finance or the dealer ?

thanks

It would be best and 'I was told I cannot have finance without it' are two diff things... Are you only now concerned due to the recent ads of people getting thousands :/?

Financial ombudsman is your route and they will tell you if you have a claim.

no there the second step, the first step is to write to the company who you paid the premiums to and state your case that you feel the ppi ws missold and if you et no joy then go to the Financial ombudsman.

Go to moneysavingexpert. There prob be a section in there regarding this. I did it with bank charges and got 800 back of them by following his step by step guide. Only took a few letters

The thing is, the recent ruling doesn't suddenly mean everyone who has ever paid PPI is entitled to it back.

If you were told that the only way you could get finance was to take the PPI and you had to take it from them, then yes, you were missold and you have a claim.

However having it explained to you and then being told "I think it would be best if you took it" is not missold - you could have said no and still get the loan.

The banks (mainly) are being forced to pay back only where they missold - they aren't paying everyone back.

Everyone is jumping on the bandwagon and saying 'I was forced to have PPI... I'm owed thousands!'. The media have hyped it up too much.

I don't take ppi out on any personal loans. Only on my mortage for sickness accident etc have I got it. Had it on a loan once. When my mum passed away I was off with depression and tried claiming on it, they said they only pay out if I was diagnosed by a shrink. God knows if I lost a limb I prob would have to post it to them to pay out. Now I just have savings set aside incase I need it. Never bothered since as they all try to wiggle out of payment and usually it costs more than the interest on the loan itself

What you mean is, you took an insurance product you thought at the time was a good idea, and now you haven't had to claim on the policy and the period of cover has finished you'd like all your money back.

Jog on.

PPI isn't worth the paper it's printed on anyway. I've never taken it and never will.

It's good in certain situations, if you have a need for it and you fit the criteria for the policy then it can prove very rewarding. But it's like anything... you may never need to use it
