What coilovers?

Featured Replies

I've known that my rear shocks were ****** for a while but now the fronts are also ******. Not great considering they're just over a year old with less than 9,000 miles on them...

Anyway, what coilovers should I go for? What's the difference between KW V2's vs. V3's?

any warranty left on them?

The previous owner bought them so Jabba aren't interested.

I believe spring rates are the same across the road spec kw's/weitec's.

Dampers and settings however are different. V2 have adjustable rebound, v3 have adjustable rebound and adjustable slow bump. Think the quality of the dampers are also different across the range.

Must admit I'm not impresed with how long people's coilovers are lasting. My oems are over 7 years old and covered about 60k and are still fine.

Drive over here and you can see how my V3s feel...

I think they are fantasic. Certainly comfortable enough and yet give great handling.

You'll be looking at about £1,200. Not sure how much more than the V2 they are.

I might have to take you up on that offer. :D

Or get chris to take you out in his (V2`s). I`v got V1`s, great value imo, stiff but comfortable enough.

I was looking to purchase some Weitec's soon for my vRS and now after reading they have failed after only 9000k I'm having second thoughts on them

Lots of people like them on here, but iv heard they pop rear shocks after a year or two from a few people now. For the little extra they cost, I'd got for V1's all day long.

There you go. Compare the two. :D. (or 3)

Anyone know where the cheapest place is for V2's and V3's?

Got weitecs on mine and not had a single problem with them in 2 1/2 years/45k

If I had the cash I'd be getting a set of bilsteins as KW is basically the same as weitec !

Really? I know there's a lot of inter brand swapping of parts etc, but I didn't realise the whole kit of the kw's were the same as weitecs?

Matt

KW own Weitech and AP.

When i had my rear shock problem on my whys all my dealings where with KW.

they are the main brand of coils, but if your budget dosent strech as far then it Weitech or AP.

alls i can say is, Weitechs are good coilovers, but im pushed to buy another set when the joms i fitted to the jetta give a better ride.

Joms ftw lol wel impressed with mine and for the money who can complain

got H&R on my mk4 Ibiza, they're firm but I do over 100 miles a day without any issues

I agree if you have the extra money I would go for the H&R coilovers - I must say the H&R are one of my Favs! :)

Had Bilstein for the past 20,000 miles....love them :) ok 1000 pounds is a lot for suspension but you get what you pay for.
