Bit of Bolero VCDS coding assistance please

Featured Replies

Early Bolero's have a light sensor on the front and control the screen brightness from that (as per Columbus). Later ones don't have the sensor and are looking for something on the CANBUS to tell them how bright to be (that isn't there on early cars).

So the illumination is dynamic then? Do you know where the light sensor is?

Top right of the front panel - a small black dot about 2mm across.

You can see it on this piccie

Although that is a Superb one from the shape

I reckon it is all to do with Terminal 58d which is the interior illumination dimming on the newer models

Not got that on mine :(

That picture looks closer to RCD510/RNS510 style of install, i.e. mountings hidden by dashboard fascia. The Octavia version would run the risk of damaging the sensor, as you have to remove the surround to expose the mountings.

It is the same mounting as the Columbus, as I said it is one from a Superb I think.

I am pretty sure I have seen the Octy shape on with a light sensor as well, but it was a very early one

I don't think the light sensor is connected to anything? That's why you can add Auto-lights by adding a wire + switch? Or this nonsense :D

I have a L&K so my light sensor is fully operational

On mine that happens sometimes. Driving along during daylight and the screen on Bolero dimms.

As standard the light sensor controls the puddle lights. You are correct about adding the auto-lights.

Surely that's backwards? My phone dims in the dark and gets brighter in the sun, otherwise you wouldn't see the screen at all.
