Auto locking function

Featured Replies

Am a little confused by the owners manual on this point.

It states that the Yeti auto-locks all doors when the vehicle exceeds 15 Kph. Does this mean that when the vehicle slows below 15 Kph the doors unlock? In other words if one pauses at a pedestrian crossing, are the doors unlocked?

I ask because our previous vehicle - a Honda Civic - locked automatically on moving off and remained locked until the ignition was turned off or the unlock button was pressed. My wife appreciated this feature.

Thanks!

It stays locked. It's a pain at times. I often pick my wife up from work. I arrive in the car park and 'phone her to let her know I'm there, then read the paper or listen to the radio till she arrives. She usually comes up from behind the car, unseen by me, and tries to open the boot to put her bags in there. When the boot won't open she taps furiously on the window to wake me up!

Yes, coolll!!!!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one then...

And why is it always just as you've nodded off?

Kevin, as bob said, the doors can also be opened with one pull on the door handle from inside.

Yes, this function can be a nuisance as pointed out and I'm not sure I like the 'let's all be frightened all the time' thinking about being locked in when in transit.

Remember, however, you can also unlock the doors (and the rear hatch) by using the rocker switch on the central console.

Driving around London the Anti-hijacking option is brilliant......emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

having to push a button to let somebody else in is......really hard work....emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

You can of course turn it off via the maxidot if you don't like it.

You need to turn ON the auto unlock feature in the Maxidot. The vehicle remains locked for entry from the outside at traffic lights etc but as soon as a door is opened from the inside all the doors then unlock. So when your wife gets out of the car at the supermarket and you stay in the car the doors are unlocked ready for when she returns.

Difficult to explain, so just try it, you can always change it back.

Remember this type of Maxidot change is key specific.

OK, I'll come clean! I'm a thicko!

Can someone please again explain to me in words of one syllable what "Auto Close" and "Auto Open" actually do?

I go as follows:

SETTINGS

CONVENIENCE

DOOR OPEN

MANUAL/AUTOMATIC

and at this point have two tick boxes options as follows:

AUTO OPEN.

AUTO CLOSE.

Obviously I've had a fiddle, but am still unsure what effect the two tick box options offer. The aforegoing seen in connection, as per previous mentions, with the fact that as soon as you exceed a certain speed the doors and boot auto-lock (or not, as the case may be, dependant on ticking the right box).

My boot always seems to be locked when the wife approaches the car with the shopping with me inside it. Agreed it's no hardship to press a button to give her access but it'd be nice to know what's what.

Tick Auto open and try out the result. In some circumstances you may still have to use the door open function. The doors unlock when someone gets out of the car, if no one has got out of the car the doors remain locked and you have to use the unlock button by the handbrake.

Just try it!

Thanks, but I have' just tried it' (hence me saying that I've fiddled but not got anywhere) and wasn't able to see what either of the functions did...which is why I was asking if anyone actually, definitively, knew what they did.

Auto lock activates the central locking of the car once your speed exceeds 15kph

Auto unlock deactivates the central locking if you pull on the handle from inside the car to get out.

They also all unlock once yoou remove the key from the ignition to get out of the car.

Thhis is definitely true as it's how I have mine set

Manual unlock only unlocks the door that one person gets out of (I would think). Otherwise I guess it waits for you to manually deactivate the central locking by turning off the ignition or using the central console rocker switch.

You will find out which by setting unlock to unticked and trying out each scenario

How the system reacts also depends on how many pushes of the key you have set up to open all doors....

If you have 1 push on remote to open just the drivers door or the drivers side, then the boot will remain locked when you get out of the car, but if you have all doors unlocking on Maxidot then the boot will unlock when you get out.

Remember again this is key specific.

On my old Octavia I have it set up by a dealer to 1 click drivers door, 2 clicks on remote to open all doors. I had to use the inside central unlocking button to unlock the boot, or use the remote to unlock the boot. As I almost always use at least 2 doors or 1 door and boot I have the auto close/open option selected and 1 click on remote opens all doors.

Just to add to the confusion emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

PS with the setup I have, if I get out of the car with the key in ignition, I can still open the boot as opening my door unlocks the boot.....

So now you are really confused... :wonder:  :wonder:  :wonder:

...which is why I said -do it. Live with it for a few days and see how it fits in with your lifestyle.

Many thanks for the help here. I delved into the setup menu as advised and found that autolocking was not turned on. It is now, and there is a reassuring (for my wife) gentle thunk of the doors locking as one pulls away and the key symbol on the switch behind the gear lever now glows.
