Next turbo up from a stage 2 hybrid ?

Featured Replies

Just after a bit of info on what the next available turbo is after the MD376 from TD ?

Is there a stage 3 available or different turbo models from different company's ?

Jabbasport do a stage 3 kit.

Custom manifold and a GTB2265VK hybrid

Very nice

Nice price too :o

Do it

That's a really good price is it not for that whole kit?

It's like £2000 for the turbo with manifold I think. :o

Edit, its £1850

Also includes 3" downpipe and all new gaskets

Yes, but you'll need a lot more bits to pull the power they are suggesting.

Basically stage 3 is not cheap. You can end up spending thousands, plus more if you get the work done for you.

Because I did the whole car with top suspension, brakes, wheels, tyres etc... it cost more than the car. Didn't see the point of something fast that would want to climb trees every time I got to a corner.

It was either spend £££ or get a new mkII. So I did it.

I hope in a few years time I can afford to do something similar

Really?

Injectors, clutch, remap FMIC and bobs your uncle :-)

I've bought a GTB2260VK off Ryan @ Darkside (See members cars for pics), and will be running it on stock injectors then modified ones and I'll get 1/4 mile/dyno print out before after etc.

After doing all of that, are you not doing anything to the suspension and brakes? Also a LSD will definitely help to get that power through the front wheels. :)

Exactly my point. 300bhp in a Fabia is very nice for Santa Pod, but where else can you use it?

You really need (In my opinion) to uprate the car to handle it. So decent tyres, brakes, LSD, suspension etc...

To get a car that can actually handle the power is a lot more expensive than just bolting on a mahoosive turbo and a few ancilleries.

Half the cost of my build was the power. The other half was making it a great handling car that can use the power.

That's why (to me) the cost of a stage 3 is high.

No problem if people just want big power, but for usablility and safety it's not my personal preference. Give me an all round package.

As I said above:

I'm waiting to see how this pans out, I'd like 300bhp at some point though...

youve got pretty much everything except the turbo, throw in a manifold lsd and your sorted :)

do you mind me asking how much you actually spent? :) top job you have done, kudos for going for the great suspension and lsd etc :)

On a similar build the sum of £20k was being thrown about iirc, that's including the car itself though.

Sorry but 20k on a fabia is just ridiculous !

Most likely very fast yes but for that sort of cash you could have a Porsche cayman s and still be worth something after a few years !

Yes I know it looks a bit bonkers.

Was tempted to buy a few different cars, but when I tried them they were just not raw enough. S3 etc... and I (for personal reasons) just can't buy a Porsche. I'd just feel like a bit of a tit and it won't fit in the garage. Plus everyone knows it's fast and wants to race you all the time. Had this with my Scooby.

Problem to me is, all these very fast modern sports cars are very good. But that means they are very refined, very comfortable and ultimatley rather boring as they do high speed very well. I knew the novelty would fade after a few months like it did with my TDV8 Range Rover. So I chose to go for something that looks standard, but isn't.

I love having a Skoda that people underestimate, which is why I've kept it looking as standard as possible. It's also why I bought the best one I could find as a base car due to my modification plans, hence it's an 09 plate SE.

And yes, you never see the money back on modifications. But my Range Rover was probably losing £7k a year in depreciation anyway without the other running costs. So it's not really that bad. 18ish months and I'm about even. :D

In addition, it's a lot of fun!

I completely agree on the Porsche thing.

There is just something about a Skoda that will blow your head off that makes it so much more appealing than anything quick as standard.

Sounds exactly like my kind of justification for buying stuff :D

cam, injectors (nozzles) and a decent amount of time spent mapping it

The reason I bought a vRS was the fuel economy increase from my ST Focus... but seeing oyu guys getting 300bhp from the car is rather endearing!

What sort of MPG do you see then with these big figures?

I'm getting just over 50mpg at the moment, based on three full tank calculations with fuelly.

But my car is under 300bhp, it's more like 265/270.

I am hovering around the mid to hgih 40s measured over past 2500 miles before I broke it on a trackday. Yet to start tracking it properly since I fitted the longer ratio gearbox. On the fuel light now, so I'll probably tank up with Vpower on sunday, and start the spreadsheet off again.

I do however have high fuelling injectors, so I would suffer a bit more compared to stock nozzles.
