New Sun Blinds have arrived Today

Featured Replies

Whilst i was doing a job last week at the hospital I noticed a woman putting something on her car so I wandered over and trying not to be nosey I asked what they were to which she replied WINDOW SOX  I don't know if anyone has seen or mentioned these before but I was well impressed as the regular sun blinds you can get don't keep all the sun out ( on the odd days/day we have a break of nice weather) plus my little girl has a habit of lowering the window down with the little suckers on and then they are either lost in the door or stop the window from returning to the up position resulting in stripping the door down to retrieve them, plus her little brother is at the age of copying her :o and with the arrival of a new member of the rockatansky clan in the oven I think these will be a useful investment.

The window sox go over the rear door and keep the sun out and enable you to operate the window as normal.

Will post picks up later when my wife lets me have the car back :giggle:

The website allows you to choose your make and model of car so you get the right fitment rather than them being a universal fitment .

Or you could get these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Octavia-5dr-04-CAR-SUN-SHADES-BLINDS-TINT-/310289364122?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item483eaff49a

They look about 1,000 times better and offer all of the benefits that the sox's do. Since they fix inside the car they don't get covered in muck and the can be removed and refixed much quicker.

Many members on this forum use them as an alternative to window tiniting. Well worth the extra £'s over the sox's any day.

I had these but sent them back as I wasn't entirely happy with the fit (I'm possibly a bit pedantic in that respect) but I have to agree, far better than the Window Sox - sorry Rocka' :(

Please go for the official Skoda blinds or vanstyle ones instead, here's pics of mine: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/201824-vanstyle-uv-sunblinds-window-shades/

Look far better, sit inside the window frame, cover the whole window and still allow your window to move up and down as usual.

I bought them for same reason as you, the stick on blinds never covered the right area!

Its each to everyones own Im happy at the minute with the sox , but as u say if they get caked in muck and dirt then yes they will become a problem but seein as the sun isnt burning our eyes out they will do for now until I go down the full tint process .

What on earth are those? :giggle:

Looks like your rear windows been popped through and you've done an emergency DIY wind break with a bin liner.

tints eventually

Got window sox last year for my estate. They do a good job of keeping the sun out and are cheap. But if you use them alot they leave marks on the door(they were on all last summer and earlier this year).

Decided to get the windows tinted and just the sox on really sunny days when the tints are not always enough.

Same here not planning to keep them on long term just if we get a breakthough in august of scorching sunshine then I will put em on if we go out

Same here, I saw an Almera in a car park with them on and thought "what the heck are they!?".

Really looks terrible and can't be any good for the paintwork on your doors.

I agree that the standard Halfords type are poor, but you are aware that you have a switch that will stop your kids from being able to operate the rear windows, therefore eliminating the problem of them getting stuck in the door?

I had the vanstyle ones for the Fabia and they were really good, although I agree they are not cheap. Cheaper than tints though, with the added advantage of being removable.

I have the Skoda sun blinds and rear roller blind and leave them on all the time. I personally think they look better than tints. Those sox look terrible I'm afraid in my opinion.

Keep an eye out for second hand Skoda blinds, i got mine off here saving about £40 over new ones.

Sorry chief, they may work but it looks like you nicked a pair of yer missus' tights & used those......

On another note, they shouldn't get dirty if they're only used when it's sunny! (The window sox I mean  )

7 Denier?

Seriously Rocka' they don't look the best but if they do the job for now then thats what matters. At the end of the day protecting the lil' ones from UV is more important than a good looking car........which is fortunate for you! :giggle:

EDIT: Carl, if you still have your OE shade kit, do the guy a favour! B)
