Columbus Issues

Featured Replies

Delighted with my new Superb, but two issues with the Columbus:

1. Syncing with my iPhone - all the contact name are back to front - surname, first name. Can they be reversed?

2. Navigation - the time estimates are hugely out - it assumes I drive at 35 mph! how can I change this?

Thanks all

1, I'm sure I've seen that in the phone-book settings in the MFD.

2, Sorry, never used that function.

In the Phone "Settings" section on the MFD you can select "List," then choose "Surname" or "First name." That may do it.

Press "Nav" twice to make sure that you're in the main Nav menu. Now press "Options" and then "Route" when that appears. Check the parameters you require are selected. Check that "Dynamic Route" is on (if you want to) whilst you're at it. Any changes you make MUST be confirmed by pressing "OK."

IME, the more times you use it, the more accurate its ETA becomes.

Push 'Setup'

-> 'Navigation'

-> 'Advanced navigation settings'

There you find 'Av. speed for time calc.'. Try something different from what you got.

Thanks everyone, I will have a play

Thanks for the heads-up. I had a play too, because mine was also showing overestimated journey times. Changed the ave. speed from medium to fast (maybe different terminology used here in Oz?). We'll see how that pans out tomorrow. How come an expensive piece of kit like this is less clever than a tomtom on my iPhone which knows the speed limits (and cameras) on the journey and seems to be accurate to +/- 5% on journey times whereas the Columbus was +35-40% today? And how come the tomtom can show speed and speed limits and the Columbus can't?

Mine shows speed limits. I think you have to choose to show speed limits in setup or options somewhere. (I know I´ve seen the option, just don´t remember where.)

Moving to Fast makes motorway journeys spot on, however back road journeys are still wildly out - -perhaps it will settle!?

Columbus can show the current speed limit, as long as its details are present on the map disk. I had full speed limit data displayed the whole way on my 4400 mile trip to southern europe and back. Works in both MPH and KMH and will display the speed in the appropriate units for the country you are in.

You need a recent map and firmware, then you just turn it on in the menus. Once on its displayed in the top right of the screen.
