Thinking of buying a Skoda

Featured Replies

Hi, I currently drive a 2008 Vauxhall Vectra SRi CDTi (150). This car is a pile of dog poo, in terms of realibility the worst car I have ever owned. Three months past it's warranty the DMF has started to go. VX want £1600 to repair. In truth this is the second diesel I have owned where this has happened. I had a 2006 Mondeo TDCi (115) that developed the same fault (£1200 to repair). Now I know VW group TDi's suffer the same problem but I am thinking of just giving yp on diesels and going back to petrol. The reason I am thinking Skoda is the value and reputation of reliability. I need a Superb or possibly an Octavia for weight reasons as I tow a caravan. Are the samll TSI engines any good, and is the mpg anything like as good as the advertised figures?

Welcome to Briskoda

i had a company vectra sri150 with 35k and the dmf went

i bought a private astra sri150 with 42k and the dmf went

so i moved to skoda.

i have the tsi vrs and it is excellent.

very smooth and plenty of power.

dsg gearbox is wonderful.

however i am only getting about 30mpg, having said that i dont hang about.

i would definitely recommend you to switch.

Thanks, I would not be looking for the vRS as the lower car is bad news for towing (another thing I discovered negative about the Vectra SRi). I would most likley be looking at the 1.4 or 1.8TSI Superb. Or perhaps an Octavia Estate. I used to own a 1.6 petrol Octavia (Mk1). More likley to go for the Superb as I see the Octavia safety kit is rather sparse for a car like this (no curtain airbags etc).

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hi and welcome,

Yea I know just how you feel, had a Mazda6 with DFP to my cost.

Got a petrol Octavia now and I won't be getting another newer diesel, well not for the kind of motoring I'm doing now.
