Some one in the know will have to write a "what to check" list when picking up a brand new car for us new car virgins.

Hope so, they need a kick up the arse

I'll be going to have a chat to the franchise owner in a few days anyway, I am worried what other things haven't been picked up though! Seems like the PDI is just a quick whip around...

It shouldn't be, the PDi check list is two pages long, ask to see a copy of it, they will have one on file with the job card.

What muppets, although its taken you this long to notice it...

I wandered around my car inch by inch before going in to sign anything. FOund a mark on the bumper by fog lights - wax not rubbed off but looked like a scrape, found it though :D

I don't believe they didn't spot it, the alloys are a different pattern for gods sake..lol

It is a shocking error, but then its one that has also taken the owner quite a while to spot.

I wonder if there is a vRS driving around with 2 Monty wheels on?

Anyways, my wifes fabia is in for its 1st service today, 1.2 (105bhp)

We got in touch with our 3 local-ish dealers for prices, Newport quoted £120, Griffin Mill quoted £140, but then dropped it to £120, and White Dove......Didnt even bother coming back to us with a price. I have had a few dealings with White Dove, and have to say, I wont even bother contacting them next time, I find them a complete waste of space....

Regards

Steve

We should have a Rep here, similar to an union rep/ or a members representative, look how many members we have here we have the potential to bend the ears of the dealers and the manufacturer?,what do the rest of us think? good idea or just another cr@p one!?, must have some miles innit :wonder:, most dealers would love the potential of being a close friend of a forum like Briskoda?, we could become a thorn in the @rse of some of these poor dealers who think its ok to treat customers like sh!t3, most dealers will be fine but when something goes wrong they will turn, I had a problem with my dealer although small (sat nav) when he thought he was going to get bad press, he lost it ! big time so my idea I think has legs?:wonder:

This just adds more weight to the reasons that I suggest that when you get your new car you drive it home carefully and then spend a whole day going over and under it with a fine tooth comb!!! I found I had two metal ring clips in the front wishbones which are used to fit the transport tie-down straps!!!! B)

New car buyer guide.

White Dove once tried to sell me one of their customers cars. It was parked in the car park so someone at the dealership assumed it was for sale and put it on the website. Turned out it was just waiting for someone to pick up having been delivered from another dealership.

Saw it on the website, rang them to check they had it, which they said they did. But when I went down there the salesman said , err sorry, it's not our car.

Gold.

Would really like to say i am supprised at this but i have had a nightmare with the same Dealer. Complete waste of time.

I only bought the car off them as they had one there and i did not want to wait, wanted a car straight away for the wife.

Got no end of issues, really little niggles which took ages to get to the bottom of, in the end i stopped dealing with them and sorted it myself at my own cost. Will never go there again.

As for other dealers they are much or a muchness, just depend in my opinion how much they want a sale or your business.

If i could get the car serviced independantly and keep the warranty i would.

Pretty sloppy service, both at the factory and the PDI !! Although the difference in "looks" is minimal..Just hope the rim/tyre profile is the same ??

Just popped outside to check mine is not its "twin" :giggle:

I certainly wouldn't let them take the tyres off the wrong wheels & put them on to the new ones

Four new matching wheels with four new tyres is what you should accept plus something for their incompetance

It's not good, but exactly how has this really affected you?

Everyone seems to think you can get all sorts for 'damages' when in reality there have been no such case to answer. As long as they replace the wheels with the correct type, for no cost then you have not been adversely affected - you can still use the car in the mean time.

It would be nice to thunk they would do something as a gesture if good will but they are not obliged too.

I would definitely let skoda know - they shouldn't be like that. My point was about the alloy wheel mistake, which in the scheme of things isn't a big deal ( and also skoda's fault not the dealer).

However, I would expect them to be apologetic and get the right wheels ASAP. They should be on your side and be helping you with skoda

Have to agree with this.

There is no need to be rude. I certainly won't buy another car through them, although the wrong wheels at the factory - this could have come from anywhere. Just a shame that the dealer didn't spot this (and they damn well should have)
