May be saying bye bye briskoda :(!

Featured Replies

Been talking to trading standards today and the finance company about rejecting my car and buying from another brand.

The list keeps growing of issues and to be honest I have too many other 'home' issues to be worrying about... it's also beginning to affect my job the amount of time I'm spending on the phone having to try sort things out

Will keep you all posted.

I've spent every day for approx 7 days ringing them, its affecting my job and my home life now... The list of problems is growing and growing. Spoke to my parents about it and we're going to pursue a refund and go elsewhere. It's a shame because I honestly expected more from Skoda.

well whatever you decide, good luck with it ;)

Sorry to drag it up ( and I am trying to help ) but can you list the catalogue of problems.

It's not as easy/simple as some make out to reject a car but I have significant experience in this field (I successfully rejected a £200,000 yacht once, plus I worked in the trade dealing with just this sort of thing from the other side) so I might be able to save you some stress

Aye nae bother

· Car pulls to the left (you have to hold wheel to right to stop it doing so)

· Dashboard rattles badly in front passenger side near airbag?

· Rear passenger door card rattles badly/buzzes

· Drivers door card rattles/buzzes

· Engine buzzes/makes noises when idling which in turn is a VERY loud noise within the cabin

· Air conditioning unit ‘whines’ when switched on and your driving

· Delivered with wrong spec (Maxidot – not informed)

· Left alloys are VRS, right alloys are Monte Carlo

· Oil useage

I also never want to have to return to that dealership in my life... the way I've been spoken to on the phone on several occasions has been disgusting.

hi mate, shame to see ya go but i would do the same, but whats very bad is the wrong wheels, Your car goes through numorus q.c before it leaves the factory, but to miss something like that is wrong, so if they miss something like that what the hell is the rest of the car like, and as we can see rubbish, take it all the way mate, cheers.....ice.

Spoken to a solicitor about it today whos given me a few points to work with and +1 to the above, 2 sets of Q.C .... What else is wrong with this car? Do I wanna be paying finance for 3 years for more issues to 'pop up'.

That's what a warranty is for. Shame that you have to reject the car though. Though I thought all cars "pulled" slightly...

Whatever happens though mate, best of luck. If there's anything I can help with let me know?

That's tough. Sorry to hear the car has been badly prepped. For what it's worth...the rattle from the passenger side dash is almost certainly the famed 'air induction pipe' which resonates where it joins the front grill. It resonates back into the car sounding as if the airbag or something in that dash area is loose. Can make quite a noise. It's an easy fix if that's of interest...but hey ho it looks as if you are past that. Please try to keep posting on all this. Good luck and maybe keep in touch with Whitelighter as he seems to have plenty of experience too in dealing with this rejection thing.

Sorry to hear about the car i have had skodas for 10 years and they all ways bin very good cars it make me sad to see skoda had not live up to standard they can be build to.

I hope it all works out for you all the best

Its a shame because to look at its a nice car but... no car I've ever owned has had so many issues and i'm finding new ones daily! When you drive over bumps the rattling drives me wild. Also that new rattle thats developed on idle is extremely loud, even with the radio on you can hear it very very clearly! You also hear it outside the car coming from the engine.

You've all been brill and if the car does go I'd still come on here and natter (if allowed!) but I honestly dont want it any longer, I think White Dove are going to be pricks but I've got the following people involved

White Dove, Skoda UK, Finance Company, Trading Standards, Irwin Mitchell Solicitors and soon to be Retail Motor Industry Federation. The last 3 all agree there are issues with the car that are a breach of contract under Sale of goods act 1979 section 14.

If the finance company (VW?) agree there's something wrong then they will soon sort the dealer out.... Or they should!!!

It's stopped feeling like a new car to me (I dont even like going out in it anymore), they killed the excitement... Buying your first new car is meant to be brill I thought, this has been one stressful day after another. As you know gore about my 'home life' at the moment, I canney be doing with extra stress of this and it effecting my job too. The amount of money I've spent on phone calls too is unreal :(

demand a brand new VRS :)

cit advice gave me a good printout on vehicles and how to reject these, helped a lot when we had issues with a used car recently. got them to change a £500+ back window coz a little rubber seal was torn, priceless :giggle:

i used them and consumer direct. what i will add is you 'might' have to give them a chance to repair so just grit your teeth, might be different with new cars but dont think so

i think you have good backing when you involve a finance company as they dont want you defaulting on it and will help as much as they can. they 'might' even offer a swap but dont count on it although im sure that last think skoda want is a return

Right sadly I have no choice but to let them try fix things... giving them one chance and then rejecting the vehicle.

If it cant be fixed then its clearly not fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality...

The main reason is, without a car I cannot get to work and it could be weeks to sort it out!

Going to have some long chats to Skoda finance/UK.

I will never return to white dove though ever... and if anyone is interested in buying a car from them. DONT BOTHER

Whatever you do, please please please keep making the finance payments until this is resolved. Even though it's vag finance, they are effectively a separate company from the manufacturer and not paying them will screw your credit history.

I have been on the boat all day, and it looks like things have moved on, but I will post my thoughts if I get a chance later.

Also, ad I have said before, be very careful about involving solicitors. I can't see it's really necessity as consumer law is fairly straight forward and there is plenty of free advice to be had. Solicitors should be a LAST resort, as they cost a lot.

There is an old affect that says you should never go to court over a principle as the only winners will be the lawyers....

Thanks white, I will continue to make the payments as have been advised to do so. (The solicitors are funded by my dads legal protection policy on home insurance, had a good 45 minute chat to the solicitors firm and they've been extremely helpful but have not been instructed at this stage). Also spoke to RAC Legal services who were very helpful as have Consumer Direct/Trading Standards.

I'm playing them at their own game, giving them reasonable time to 'resolve the issues', if they cannot do this they have no grounds to stop rejection of vehicle. If they cant fix it, they cant expect me to just 'put up'. Will keep you posted though. I would personally prefer to flat out reject the vehicle but that means not using it and its a 40 mile round trip to work and I couldn't do it without a car so I'm a bit stuck!

Also that new rattle thats developed on idle is extremely loud, even with the radio on you can hear it very very clearly!

Mine does this too, but not all the time.. It only happens on the low idle of 600rpm, some days it does it, most of the time it doesn't. If I have the air-con running, the idle is raised to 800rpm and the noise doesn't happen. I'd love to know what it is, got to be something resonating, maybe a pipe in the engine bay or something.

How much oil is it using?

So sorry to hear that the Monte dream has turned into a nightmare ... your dealership seems very poor.

Pity you aren't a bit further west. I use Valley Sevices and they have been brilliant. I bought a low mileage seven year old Fabia from them a few months ago, it developed a few faults and even though the faults weren't covered by the warranty they paid towards a new catalytic converter and did three days of other work for which I wasn't charged a penny. They promised if I bought the Fabia and there were any problems they'd sort them out and have been as good as their word even though it has cost them money. They are a family firm and very keen to keep a good name, maybe that's the difference. Can't believe the attitude of your dealership ...shocking! :(

I've noticed that if you put the air con on it stops the sound, but im not going to run the a/c 24/7! And its EXTREMELY loud this rattle, im not talking a small vibration sound, im talking loud enough to interupt a conversation!

Apparently on the oil its stopped now so dunno, it used half a dipstick in 5 days though. Guess the car feels sorry for me and thought 'best not use any more oil!'

The whole thing has been a very sour experience... I would of assumed buying into a VAG group car would of meant 'quality'. It seems that VAT offer is making the factory overworked and cutting corners on quality.

The way I've been treated by White Dove is appauling. I work in a customer service based job and I never treat my clients like that. If I say I will call someone back I do, if I make a promise I keep it and I'm never rude no matter what my attitude. Without them I have no job....

I've uploaded a video of one of the noises

Twice i blip the throttle which is why the noise stops, please also note there is A LOT of traffic in the background (i'm at a 4 cross road junction thats extremely busy... and you can still hear it VERY clearly!)

It's not unusual for a new engine to use a bit of oil as it loosens up. If it really has stopped using it now, then that issue has sorted itself out naturally.

Your engine rattle is what mine does, it's done it from not long after it was new and hasn't caused any other problem other than being a bit irritating. It's not the engine itself, I lifted the bonnet while it was doing it and it's not coming from there. I'm sure it's something like a pipe or something in the dash resonating from the low idle. It should be known to Skoda by now and should be an easy fix if it is. I haven't bothered to mention it to the dealer as they are 40 miles away from me and I can't be bothered taking it back and forth for a few weeks for them to try and fix a rattle that isn't always there.

That's the thing, mine isn't there 'occasionally' it's ALWAYS there and it gets louder and louder each time I use the car. Whenever the car is stationary that is rattling away, the car rattles continuously when I drive it.. Drives me wild even getting in it! Add into the fact I have to hold the wheel with some force to the right else i'll just go smashing into a curb, plus my delightful different alloy wheels :(
