How do you keep the black plastic bits black ?

Featured Replies

Looking for suggestions how folks keep or get the plastic bits on the bodywork the colour they should be, because any paintwork polish I seem to use leaves a white'ish residue on the black plastic bits no matter how careful I am. I've tried a spray on back to black stuff but it doesn't seem to work or last that long.

Peanut butter.

I use a foam shine substance. Not sure of the manufacturer. it stays much better than the spray and also protects.

Peanut butter???? Really???

Does it matter if its Smooth or Crunchy...

Tell me your joking ????

Unfortunately, Denis rarely jokes :(

And in this case, he's really dead serious. :scared:

It does work :)

Best to use smooth, as the chunks in the crunchy stuff make it harder to buff it up...

It's as effective as any "back to black" type stuff I've ever used.

Rob.

i don't like penut butter,can i use marmite instead?

Yes, I was being perfectly serious. The advice originally came from someone who should know, ie Wax Wizard.

Will happily confirm Denis is correct, and I hate peanuts with a passion.

Peanut butter....something to do with the oil....crunchy will work but smooth will be so much easier to apply and wipe off. :D

How the other half live ............. ;)

not really, stick your car through the carwash and your looking at

Depends if you count your Saturday/Sunday as time you could be working. To me 1-2 hours of a weekend spent car cleaning is time well spent. But it's all upto how you want to spend your weekend :D

Cleaned mine today btw ;)

I'd rather do it myself than give someone else a tenner, to be honest. Maybe that's just me

Auto Glym bumper and rubber care is very good ,more pricey than peanut butter ,but good none the less. :)

Thanks guys, it really works, I've just washed, waxed and peanut buttered my car, not only does it look great but it smells nice, good job I don't have a nut allergy though...

An old trick I got told years ago by a car valeter was to use shoe polish.

Please don't ask me whether it was Cherry Blossom or Kiwi or Parade Gloss, all I know is that it does work and lasts for ages and ages: I only do it once a year.

(the rest of the year the car looks cr@p!):rofl::rofl:
