Yeti ordered

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I did an intro over on the "New member" forum but thought I'd pop in here to say hello. We've just ordered a Yeti SE TDi 140 4x4 with minimal options (lumbar, lights/wipers/mirror, metallic paint, towbar prep) and are awaiting the build date. We're also still undecided on the colour to have - I looked at the poll in here and saw the various votes and comments but obviously colour is very objective.

The order currently has the Aqua Blue on it, just so they could process it, but we're undecided between that, the Brilliant Silver or the Steel Grey. All uninspiring colours but inoffensive and resaleable. We considered the Cappucino for a while but wrote it off when we saw one on a dull day and it was just greyish-beige. Moscovado looks like something my son does in his nappy. I don't like red on big cars, our other car is already black and dark blue still says "doom blue" to me. We had a demo car from Skoda UK for 5 days which was in white, which grew on me but our neighbours have a white Tiguan and it's always dirty-looking. I think it looks best in a light colour, so the bold, chunky black plastics really stand out and give it that ruffty-tuffty Tonka look.

I've looked through the pet hates thread too - nothing there really bothers me and one or two I remember from the test drive; any car has something not as you like it. One of the things I like about the Yeti is that it isn't a reskinned VW model - I know it's a platform-share, but there's no equivalent VW or Audi model that the Yeti plays little brother too - it's a unique proposition in the VAG range and pretty much in the market.

We would like a 4x4 for our equestrian pursuits, the higher stance makes fitting and removing kids easier and we live on a sloping road that is largely impassable in the snow - the Yeti might just crawl out of it. Factor in the price and the high level of equipment and it's a winner!

Anyway, we're looking forward to delivery (December...?!).

Weasley, I have pretty much got the car you have ordered and I have never regretted it in the 13 months of ownership so far. I went for the Aqua Blue which is a bit of a nothing colour but hides dirt better than any other car that I have owned. You can go for months without washing it yet it still looks okay. Just give the alloys a clean every now and again and the it makes the whole car look clean. Next time I may go bolder but I tend to alternate my cars that way.

The pet hates thread should be seen, as you have done, as minor irritations from people who genuinely like their cars. The perfect car has yet to be built as what I would like would no doubt irritate someone else.

Two extras to ponder, if you are into horsey things that means going into fields or at least "interesting roads". Is it worth getting the off road button just to get a bit of extra assistance? You may already be very competent in off road driving but if not it seems like a good and inexpensive extra. The other extra, and a definite on my next car list, is a heated front windscreen. The Yeti does not heat up that quickly so winter windscreen de-frosting can be annoying. If you garage your car then it is not necessary but if you are a driveway person then it is worth thinking about.

Other than those two things I agree that the SE is a great specced model and needs very little adding to it.

I would just add Park Assist or at least front parking sensors. VERY useful once you get used to them and you will never want to be without.

As to colour. Be brave and order a VERY rare for the Yeti silver one! I think they look great in silver. I think Aqua Blue has been discontinued... so interesting that the system still let you order one!

Enjoy the wait.

Hi and welcome,

of the colours you've mentioned silver gets my vote and like EB has mentioned there are one or two bits of kit worth opting for on the SE above what you have mentioned;

Off-road button

Hill Hold (HHC) to compliment the above

Heated screen

Rough road pack (stronger sump protection and heavier grade brake pipes at rear)

Hope that helps and enjoy the new motor when she arrives.

TP

As others have mentioned, off-road button without a doubt worth having, lumbar support a very worthwhile option. Personally I would opt for the rough road pack but only because I would take the Yeti offroad a bit.

Aqua Blue is still being shown as available in the latest Yeti brochure.

Hello Weasley,

You will love the 16" wheels - and you might as well start shopping for winter wheels and tyres.

White is the current "in" color and suits the yeti very well. Looking at all the road warriors in Germany, the colour preference is clearly switching from black to white - both for the various SUV types as well as the station car types in the fast lane.

If you want to go for a bold colour then why not try the new bronze colour, the replacement for tangerine orange, it should make the car look more like a tonka toy than most other colours.

Ian

Try to avoid my example of ordering your SE spec and then spending too much time looking at brochure and then changing to Elegance spec and losing some more time on delivery. I don't regret it - the lights are amazing and I love the leather seats(even if chose the wrong colour- damn !).Off road button v v useful- really- have used it on many occasions.

Moscovado looks like something my son does in his nappy.

Which is precisely why I chose it, living as I do in the midst of numerous dairy farms whose bovine occupants 'decorate' the roads from time to time ...

Thanks for the pointers guys!

Firstly, since when did 16" wheels become standard? Last I saw (online and in the latest brochure) it was 17"ers?

Colour: I tried the orange on my wife but she's a conservative type, I like the bronze but not sure I can order it yet? Saw a dark green one tonight..... not impressed!

Options: we had to keep them down to manage the price, so whilst some are nice to have, we'll probably stick as we are (wheels notwithstanding).

Sadly 16" wheels are not standard in the UK above 'S' spec unlike mainland Europe, unless you go for a GreenLine. Mine has 16" Moons with 215/60 tyres but only after a letter to the manufacturer got Skoda UK's entrenched position of fitting 17" sports wheels as standard to a 4x4 LUV (light utility vehicle) overruled B)

Just phoned the dealer to enquire about the Bronze colour - they're ordering me a swatch; we're teetering on having Bronze or Grey. Seems the bronze is new to Skoda as none of the other models show it in the configurator - ordering off of the rather unrealistic brochure picture makes me a bit nervous!

My link

Try this, the main Skoda website, I believe the colour is the "Terracotta Orange, 2nd row down 3rd on right.

Hi Ian,

your right the new colour is the Terracotta, that's what I got told in CZ. The Cayenne I saw was a special edition limited production colour; shame as it looked great.

Wait a minute! The current online brochure declares "Bronze metallic (0H0H)" (available 29th August), yet the 'Exterior' section of the Yeti website shows this "Terracotta" colour, plus a load of others not in the brochure. The configurator shows a different list again.

Which is right?!

OK - a bit of digging and it seems that the names of the colours on the website gallery are different to the brochure and configurator, even though the colour codes (revealed in the urls of the jpegs) are the same. So:

Mato = Muscovado (brown)

Lava = Petrol (blue)

Malachite = Regency (green)

Platin = Steel (grey)

Terracotta = Bronze (orange)

WTF??! A bit of consistency wouldn't go amiss! Anyway, thanks for the pointer - maybe the Terracotta/Bronze is the way we'll go.

The colours available to you are determined by the importer and not by the factory, that is why there will be a lot more of them on the Skoda auto website than the Skoda UK one. The importer will also decide what to call the colours in their own markets, hence the discrepancy there. As you have found out, it is the code that is the important thing to note.

Well yes, but it is the colours' description on the Skoda UK website that mismatches the latest Skoda UK brochure. I get the feeling that Skoda's online presence is a bit amateur.

Back to the original question - In retrospect I'd not have chosen Pacific Blue, not because it doesn't look great - it does - but it shows the dirt, and in my experience the SM is a mud magnet, par excellence. Go for a silver, that is until Skoda decide to do a tartan!

I've heard that applies to all of Skoda product descriptions irrespective of format!! :thumbdown:

I'm sure we will all be interested how you get on, good luck.
