Not a good weekend!

I know I can take it where I want, but, there isn't exactly a lot of choice in the middle of Wales.

30 miles to somewhere I shall be extremely awkward with, and check with a fine tooth comb when the job is done, or 50 miles to somewhere that I don't know, and will probably entail me loosing a day.

It is now booked for the 1st of September!!

Shame we can't choose which garage we want our own cars repaired at. emoticon-0120-doh.gif

Seems like the hire car company need a kick up the backside emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

I have already told LV Frizzells that I am making a complaint to the CSMA about the way I am being "discriminated" against because we live rurally.

Graham, is the hire car being organised by your insurance co?

If so, I would contact them and let them give the hire co a kick up the jacksie.

You've paid good money for a hire car in your circumstances and they've accepted your cash so now they should sort it out.

If there are extra costs in delivering a car to where YOU want it then the insurance co should swallow them.

If the insurance co say no then tell em you are going to hire a car locally ( assuming there is another company nearby of course) and claim the cost via your uninsured losses.

Sorry to hear it. Doesn't look too bad. Sad, but driveable. It's primary job is to protect you. Hope it's fixed soon.

And just to be clear, the Forest of Dean is in England and not Wales. The locals are very passionate about that :giggle:

Update.

Car went to Pant Motor Bodies, Llanymynach today. They think it will need a new front wing and drivers door, plus a new bump strip on the rear door, plus a new headlight, which we found was loose whilst in France; turns out that the mountings have broken on it. Perhaps they'll replace the DRL bulb too :giggle:

I have a VW Tiggiwinkle as a replacement, which is very Yeti like!

Funny set of toys on it thought; it gets full parking sensors and auto park, but no fog lights or DRL's.

Boot has a space saver spare and this results in it being surprisingly small.

Has a silly electronic hand brake with "hill hold".

Seats are more firm than the Yeti ones and don't seem as comfortable. We shall find out on Monday as we are going down to the daughter's near St Ives in Cornwall for a couple of days.

And it will get a bit of off-road use on Saturday as I'm doing radio in Radnor Forest on the Woodpecker Rally.

A bit off topic, but if you want to be legally pedantic, they are not riots as the Riot Act has not be read. They are nothing more than Civil Disobedience.

Showing your age again Graham; the Riot Act was removed from the statute book in the late 1960s by one of the Criminal Law review acts.

Pant Motor Bodies??

The name wouldn't fill a teenager with confidence...

Perhaps the vibrating headlight unit was the reason the DRL bulb blew in

the first place? Is it on the same side?

Same side but the bulb went first! Shall we say that I'm not going to tell them that!! :giggle:

I did actually have to replace the headlight bulb whilst in France so do believe that one was caused by the movement. That's when I found out it was loose.

Just picked up on this one after an internet break due to moving house. Doesn't this forum fill up quickly?

I hope a bodyshop (jack of al trades?) can replace the headlight better than my (specialist?) dealer! Good luck!

Resurrection time.

Finally got Dewi back today! :)

Delivery was delayed by 2 items:

Local dealer deliverd them the wrong headlight even though they provided the correct part number. :dull:

Local dealer had been unable to supply 1 rear door foil, and then took ages getting the pair that had to be ordered. :dull:

They wouldn't tell me who the dealer was but I think I know!! ;)

Everything seems to work, even the DRL, and it has been valleted inside and out. Don't think it has looked so clean since I bought it! :p

Great news!!!!! No more spider eye Tiguan vents to look at!

Now Graham next time you want to give Dewi a wash I think less drastic measures should be used!

Hi Graham

Good to see you got the lad back!

Notice you took him to Pant Autobodies I used to drive slowly (camera country)through there on a regular trip to see a customer in Welshpool. Its right on the border I think.

As you can see I now now have a confirmed build date and should have delivery for early Nov just after we visit the Lleyn

which may well be in wonderwomans Fabia!

Cheers

Peter

Glad to hear you have been reunited.

As Johann said. Next time use a bucket and sponge like very one else. :giggle:

Thank you Johann, you know what you can do with that sort of comment!! :giggle:

Maffa, that's the place, and the camera is still there!!

Was not sorry to see the Tiggywinkle go.

Quite a nice comparisson with Dewi but I didn't find the seats as comfortable, and absolutely HATED the stupid electronic hand brake! It did have the "auto parking system" which I didn't use and to be honest those front parking sensors got on my @@@@.

I was surprised that the fuel consumption seemed to be very slightly better than the Yeti's, and can only put that down to it seeming to be slightly more aerodynamic. It had the same engine (140bhp) as mine.

Was surprised how small the boot was. It had a small spare but all the sides are enclosed, and the jack is fitted in a cupboard on the left, not under the floor.
