For those people who said I wouldn't get 61 plate even if I waited until 1st september

Featured Replies

Had a phone call from my dealer offering me a choice of 61 plates to choose from, so for those who I couldn't wait and that it would be used as a run around car......HAHAHA

Am pretty sure you can pre-order 61 plates for like 2 weeks before..

Yes you can, I said I wanted it on 61 plate in July and was not a problem

Yeah but did you reserve your 61 plate in July?

Only now are you being asked to confirm which one you want.

Dealer might have said it was ok then - but you can't actually take 61's in july

Does it really matter that much ?

6 months it will be out of date and the novelty worn off....

Our Yeti arrived on the 8th August last year and the dealer held it until 1st September so it'd be on the new reg.

It's fairly common.

Yes, one poster above was unlucky, but we had a new Yeti in September and a new Fabia in January. They have both been great.

Hope you enjoy the new car when it arrives.

I think this stems from the VAT free deal, where under skoda rules the car has to be registered within 21 days from being delivered to the dealer.

Not sure about the "know it all" thing - I was just reiterating what my dealer told me when I asked them to extend me a similar courtesy if my car had turned up in July/August, where I was flatly refused with them citing Skoda's ruling that the car must be registered within 10 days of the dealership taking delivery.

I rang my dealer before writing this to check, and they told me that your dealer must simply be breaking the rules for some reason.

Happy days to you mate, but I'm not sure what this thread is adding to the debate, other than to prove by your actions that you are indeed only 20 years old...

With VAT deal it's 10days before they have to register it apparently, so skoda uk must still have the car somewhere, and no the thread is about the hassle a few people gave me about not been able to have a 61 plate!!!

My insurance is £620 for the year which isn't too bad

I had the full VAT-off deal and my dealer didn't give any hassel about registering the car. Mine arrived in Early Feb and I waited to collect on 1st March for an '11' plate. Asked the dealer about this '10 day rule' but they said it doesn't exist, some dealers make this up so they can register your car on the current months sales stats... :giggle:

OT but I really wanted one of those. My uncle had a mint one but sold it just before I passed my test. Had my parents Astra Mk3 instead

Our dealer was quite happy to hang onto the car through the whole of August so we get a 61 plate if need be.

AFAIK its still on its way there though...

Don't get why it's so important to people having the newest plate, unless ofcourse you care alot about what other people think or, you change your car every 3 years religously and will save your self a few quid if you wait a couple of weeks to be on the newer plate.

ITT, I'm 20 and I got my brand new Fabia in may, people don't really care what you drive and these days practically anyone can run around bigging it up in a new car, the PCP options, the payment's are so low it's scary, however, obviously, on the PCP alot of the people never actually own the car and imo, not very much of an achievement...

Anyway, mucho offtopic, in short, enjoy your car. :)

its a sense of ocassion an a feeling many dream of if you in no rush or time it right then have it on the first day of new plates id do it again emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

its like owning a brand new car to their spec not many people ever will

i forget how lucky i am to have done this emoticon-0144-nod.gif
