Where to go in the NW for first service, and how much

Featured Replies

My car is coming up to the 10000 mile mark and so will soon need its first service. I live near St Helens/Wigan and there are no local Skoda dealers, so can anyone recommend a dealer I should use? I need somewhere that can provide a courtesy car, or will pick up and bring mine back.

It is a 1.9 Tdi 130, how much should a first service cost?

Took my furbie vRS to Gorners in Warrington. Very helpful, brilliant service. All in all service cost me

I'm going to Gorners Warrington next week for my first annual Furby vRS service. I've been in a few times and have been impressed. The servicing also comes recommended on here, from various people.

Thanks guys, I've give Gorners a call.

Also try Alex Lawrie in Liverpool. Had my 10K and 20K done. Great service each time.

gorners is good until something goes wrong. then buyer beware.

Is your car not on variable servicing?

Has anyone used Horners in Bury or Manchester?

I'm fast approaching my 60k service, which I believe is the one where they replace the timing belt?

I bought my car from there! really good. Speak to brian there he will sort you out. Brian Whatmough

He sold me my car too. Top bloke.

I used to make the effort to go into Manchester for servicing when Gary ran the service desk as he was good at getting things sorted. Now I don't bother and just go to Horners Bury...had my 50k done there a few weeks ago and they did a good job.

Rob.

Cheers guys.

My mate's dad owns an independant garage in Radcliffe so I'll probably go to him to have most work done, but Horners is quite handy - the Bury branch is only a couple of miles from home and the Manchester one about a mile from work.

Bearing in mind the car is 4 years old and very nearly 60k now, and only carries a one year warranty from the Skoda dealer I just got it off in Sheffield, do you think there is a significant benefit in using a main dealer for scheduled servicing instead?

Or at least, enough to outweigh the extra cost?

I'd say probably not - the only advantage they have is the dealer's have all the diagnostic tools if you're getting engine faults. For things like oil changes and that then an independent will be as good...

Thanks for all your replies.

I called Gorners in Warrington and explained that I wanted a 10k service because its written in my service book that I need one. The chap I spoke to said I could ignore the service book and wait for the service light as the car should be on variable servicing.

Yep me too...ive been quoted

Will Ring Horners.... if they still want
