Yes he's done a fantastic job, I'm very happy with how it looks now, still can't believe I won on the raffle tbh!

Car feels so different now, certainly faster than when I was at Combe. So smooth to drive now too, so something must have been up for a while with the other turbo :( Happy now though :D

  • Stealth mode now enabled The car is certainly more lively being back on 16's again, you can really feel the difference I think losing that weight over the 17's. Wheels look quite dull in this photo

  • Been a big fan of Simon's car (and driving) for a while. Car looks good in action, I made this up in HD: Hope you don't mind me putting this up Simon.

  • Cheers Trevor, will be good to meet you too. Like the look of your Octy project too, the wheels suit it well! I'm definitely going to do a couple of sessions at Combe, I can't wait now

i got mk4 golf handles already painted brand new off ebay for 37quid, the black was pretty spot on when my car was black too, dont know if the guy still does them, and looking good si

Nice job - paint looks A1 emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Thats' so clean, I love the realy nice touches like realllly clean calipers!

Those seats are awesome, they from the 2.0l Fabia mk1?

Where abouts are they based?

Cheers,

The seats are from a mk1 fabia sport, bohemia edition if I remember correctly.

Babs - the bodyshop is in Hirwaun, South Wales.

Si.

Have you got a hybrid pd150 now? I been speaking to Ben at Shark and i am going to book mine in after xmas for a hybrid pd150 and remap so shud see 200bhp. whats it like running 200 bhp is it alot faster than before?

No - recon/new? PD150 - My mate fitted it so I got the inside track. :D

Loving the wheels and also the interior! Looks very nice indeed- prefer them to the VRS cream interior!

As Jason said, it was a brand new PD150 unit, just swapped like for like. According to the Turbo Centre, it comes with a 360 degree thrust bearing as standard anyway so should run reliably, and thus I didn't see the need in me going hybrid and spending £200 more if I'm not going to use the extra potential that it would have.

The difference between a mullered one and a brand spanking new one is night and day though (no surprises there!) Was amazed at how much faster it actually is now, compared to before :D

Castle Combe, when the old Turbo made some interesting sounds...

I see now , at the start you can hear it making some funny noises? lol. nice lil spin out too :p

Quite a bit, especially when you are on a 'spirited' weekend blast somewhere.

Not much change to the car recently, apart from racking up lots of miles. Still love the comfort and sheer economy of this car, and also the real world pace it provides. It really is an unbeatable blend IMO.

Finally made the full switch from 205/40/17 to 215/40/17 tyres (definitely more comfort and grip), and now have Continental Sport Contact 3's which I absolutely love, unbelievable grip in the wet, and great in the dry too. More pricey than the Toyo's but will see how they last!

Just waiting on the Xenon headlights to come in now, can't wait to fit those, always something I wanted to finish the car off

Just a couple of pics from a recent blast on the moors!

I've always loved your car Simon.

Great work as always.

intersting ill have to try 215's they any more expensive then the 205's?? looking good as always mate

  • Author

Cheers chaps! Hope both your cars are going well.

Trevor the 215's are more pricey, but my rims are 7.5J wide, and they really need the extra bit of width so worth it in my eyes.

Was finding on track the 205's on the front would get scrubbed very badly as there was no room for the sidewall to move as it was stretched. The 215's give that extra bit of sidewall which helps with the handling.

  • 4 weeks later...

I did always contend that the 215 40-section 17 ran better on the Fabia. Like you say, on a 7.5J having a little less stretch seems to help front tyre wear, as well as grip and feel.

The car's looking great too emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Looks awesome dude.....and so does the car in the garage!!

Think the front end needs a fresh paint job after 95k of mostly motorway miles, stone chips galore :'(

Look sweet :)

Cheers bud, how are your Xenon lamps? Still waiting on my set, hopefully here very soon though! Will probably be the next update!

Love them! No probs with them at all. They do look class everything I drive towards a window or something Im just like my car is awesome lol ideally would still like to split them from chrome inners, just think it would look better on a silver car. But don't think I have the balls for that saying they don't look too bad at all! :)

Looks great, I like this alot.
