VRS rear mudflaps

Featured Replies

Crips, the sun has hardley set over the yard arm! Good find by Fubar-I had to stick the squuare ones on mine B&F were circa £45 for all 4. The rounded rears as.classed as OE and from memory are about halfthe cost of the square rears so any increase in cost for postage from europe should be at least oartly offset by this, though TBH I don't think they are the best as my vRS still gets mucky with them on, though they do protect.the areas immediatly behind the.wheel arches from stone chips so they're better than nothing IMO

Same as me square all round from just after I got the car, the logic in my head was square ones have slightly more protection so stuck with them. Not going to stop general muck but stone chip reduction its worth it big time!

  • OEM rears fitted to a FL estate using the correct holes. I think they stick out a little too much so I might reposition with new holes.

The standard ones will fit, with a bit of warming to help it fit, or look into some aftermarket kit such as rallyflapz.

  • Unsure about estates but the standard octavia hatchback ones fit a vrs hatchback. Dealers will tell you they don't (mind did) but they do without almost no persuasion. You can almost talk them on!

Can't argue with that! I had the round OE ones on my SE+ and had to have square ones on the front so for anyone with a normal Octy the rounded fronts could be a good option as they'll match, but I noticed even with the slighty larger square ones the side of my vRS seems to get dirtier than my SE+ which I'm guessing is down to the wider tyres, but like you which ever you've got are far better than having none especially with the water based paints being softer compared with the old 2 pack stuff. The only other options are 'universal' ones that don't fit (been there, done that!) Or the (IMO) ridiculous rally type which make the vRS look plain daft.

Unfortunately the square profile front mudflaps only afford you an extra 6 inches of protection on the MkII Octavia...

I also noticed that my front flaps trap quite a bit of grit, salt, mud and leaves behind them, pressed and rubbed directly against the paintwork so mudflaps might not always be better than nothing.

But then my vRS spends more time looking like this anyway :giggle:

Yea there is the non sealed side of it where they slide over the existing bodywork any rubbish that gets in will likely worry away at the finish over time. I am a bit of a fuss pot when it comes to mud flaps anyway in general, if behind a car on motorway with a lot of surface water it does dramatically reduce the spray and as a result increase all around visibility for all. If you keep your eyes out next time sport 2 cars the same make and model one with and one without flaps, there is a difference. I would like the Octavia flaps to extend down another 1-2 inches regardless of aesthetics personally.

ps. in response to second picture :peek: :x. Stone chip in first one may have been from another vehicle, if you get a ruler from centre of the rust bubble can it contact the front road wheel through flap, might just have skimmed under :(

Dare I say that I may be the first Blackline in the country that now has rounded mudflaps ALL round.

A massive thank you to FUBAR.

HAHAHA they almost look square from that angle. I still think race blue is the best VRS colour, but in the Blackline for me it has to be candy white.

So daft question, since I tried my local dealer and they can't help, I want the rounded ones, front and rear, whats the best way of getting them? I tried google and ebay but not having any luck? I just get lot's of PDF's from google and ebay is no better as although it does show me some I can't get the translations to work - I'm having a bad day methinks.

If your going to the mega meet in July I could bring some along.

that would be good..........i'll ask the boss what we are doing!

Edit.........we are coming to the Mega Meet!

I'll PM you Fubar.

Anyone used these? They list the mudflaps front and rear............... http://www.oemvag.es/en/

£34.70 including shipping for front and rear..........found them last night but not sure, hence I wondered if anyone had ordered from them?

I found them a few weeks back but decided not to order them because it was over 20 euros to ship to UK.

I have just fitted OEM mud flaps all round on my MK 2 FL Vrs

Perfect Fit

Same part numbers fitted in my Blackline.

Was admiring my car the other day in the sun and decided that the square shaped flaps must offer more protection so they are staying, car stays clean for weeks here at moment.

Strange about the cost of shipping as for me it says £5 and so many pence. Did you put the prices into UK pounds? I told it I wanted to pay in pounds.

It defaults to postage to Spain and you have to change it to UK.... Unless they have changed it recently.

It's still spanish / portugese postage as default.

Just went to order these these flaps, and the postage changes to £15 and a few pence when you enter a uk address.

Iv never seen such a tread on mudflaps. Standard rears fit end of lol

All people in here are after standard rears lol, It is just that the FL rears are not available in the UK but front ones are. They didn't even exist until I went and took pics of them and ordered some :D Oh the doubters :giggle:
