Excuse xa0sx he's got religion really bad and cannot be reasoned with.

A tuner telling the truth is certainly a refreshing change.

I therefore heartily endorse Shark Tech and any products or services they may recommend on this basis. Long may they remain in business (never easy).

Over 240hp fueled from standard injectors will get a free dyno run and I will publicly admit I was wrong after that.

Cant get any fairer than that !

:)

This could be interesting...

Where are you located?

Can you tell me what type of rolling road you use please?

It would be nice to put this argument to bed. It comes along so many times.

They're in Mansfield.

Let me know if you are going as I will come along.

Call me sharp, but I guess that's not near Essex...

It's going to take a little arranging then. :wonder:

Well it's nearer than a lot of things, but it's not exactly next door

http://g.co/maps/t8ud

Sadly it's North Nottinghamshire, about 10 minutes away from junction 29 of the M1 so quite a way. It's a 2WD Bapro rolling road they use (http://bapro.it), personally I'd never heard of them but that could be construed as a good thing if you're feeling a little bit conspiratorial. I dunno what the Italian tuning market is like but they obviously produce some naturally powerful cars so it may be that their dynos are geared towards realistic results as they're not so geared around selling aftermarket upgrades (as most people running Dyno Dynamics, Dynojet, etc are also selling tuning parts, there's perhaps a vested interest in inflated results there).

Hey, just an idea, but you could always jump in the car and drive there!

I think it's worth noting:

A dyno is only as accurate as the operator.........Ultimatley, the operator controls the correction value, atmos pressure value......

Hey, just an idea, but you could always jump in the car and drive there!

To be fair, Essex to Mansfield is a fair old return trip (according to Google it's 180 miles and 3+ hours each way) so it's a pretty long day and a not inconsiderable amount of fuel just to prove a point. I'd be well up for seeing the results of the dyno run, but maybe there's another 240+bhp Fabia or even any other PD130 engined motor more locally who Shark could make the same challenge to (I'm guessing that the injectors on all PD130 engines are the same, and once you've got a hybrid fitted it's almost definitely going to be Garrett based so that removes the Garrett/KKK ambiguity).

That's what I'm thinking.

Unfortunately I run my own business around school work, and you may have noticed it's just about the start of new term.

That just leaves weekends. I have a wife and a son of two. Plus a family meeting this weekend, Castle Combe the weekend after and Sata Pod the weekend after that.

So rather than a sharp remark please bear in mind some of us have lives and can't just lose a day just for the sake of a discussion on a forum...

As I said, it'll take some planning.

I'm not jumping in the car tomorrow. That's silly.

But I will make it up some time when I've looked at my commitments.

The half term in October is looking favorable right now as it's probably a seven hour round trip.

I like this gentlemen at shark he talks sense, I raise a glass for you sir! It seems I know were to go for some arnest advise.

Cant wait to see how these high horsepower fabias will run on the dyno. Even the americans seem to be quiet well up on TDI tuning and most of them all agree if you want more power uprate the injectors!

So 208bhp is the most in theory it can produce, so if BossFox's car runs more than 208bhp on standard injectors then your theory is wrong, right?

BossFox, I'd happily take your car along and even pay the fuel lol... I honestly can't see how it can run 266-283bhp on various rollers at the biggest VAG tuners in the country and then run under 208bhp at Shark... If that's true then the whole tuning/RR scene is just pathetic and not even worth discussing IMO.

Not at all, he could be right but if that's the case then it shows that 99% of the big tuners in the country (Jabba, Unit 18, AmD, Awesome GTI, Revo, Custom Code, etc) are all full of **** as ALL of them will say a PD130 can make 220bhp+.

Just because a dyno produces a run of 150bhp doesn't mean every other dyno is 100bhp out though, but if BossFox's car runs less than 208bhp on Shark's rollers (and runs 266bhp at Jabba, 283bhp at AmD) then it does certainly say a lot and I'd love to get evidence of this.

Isnt that a concern in itself that at one sitting the car runs at 266bhp and on another day 283bhp? A clear 17bhp diffrence which doesnt sound a great deal but when you think about it, it is!

But then again I couldnt care if someone said to me dude your cars running 130bhp or 260+bhp I would be more intrested in how the car feels for me, and that the tuning of it reflects to me my driving style, how I drive and what I enjoy. But each to there own, certainly one of the things on my shopping list is uprated injectors tho

Luke, you know my name is Richard. :)

It ran 266 on Jabbas rollers after several runs and the same on the last run at AMD.

I know full well it doesn't have 280-odd from the first run, that was AMD setting the rollers up or the car slipping or something... who knows. But it was fun to put it on the "big power" thread and wait for a reaction... :giggle:

I personally don't make any specific claims, because I have got bored senseless of all this RR/bhp talk on the Fabia I section. But I would like to take it along just to see what it makes.

Sepuldave makes a lot of sense in his posts, but every tuner sings to a different tune from each other.

It would be nice to tour the UK and get a bag of mixed results... even if posted above the operator controls the RR.

For the record I have nothing against Shark. They are a highly regarded company and it would be nice to visit.

If they were more local I'd have probably used them myself at some stage.

Same, after Trevor commented on my "welcome" thread and I had a read up on things, I knew my car wasn't peaking at 440lb/ft either else stuff probably would have started to fail a lot sooner. But to be honest I was still surprised/disappointed to find it was quite as lacking as it was at Shark the other day. Either things have really gone downhill since the last Awesome run in January, or the figures were vastly inflated.

Some very interesting questions being raised here.

I, along with plenty of others I suspect, would be interested to see dyno results at Shark from the likes of Boss Fox.

Irrespective of figures produced, I think the way a car drives and responds is the key. The child in me wants big figures, but the rational side of me wants a reliable vehicle that goes nicely. I just have to remind myself every now and then!

I'd like to be there if this ever comes about, not only to see the results but to see these cars in the flesh. They're evidently well cared for and have had a lot of time and money spent on them.

I'll keep an eye on this, see how things progress.

Same, disappointed as I am with the outcome on the dyno, on the road I would say Mikko's map feels a lot better than the Awesome one. Even being more careful than ever (now I know my flywheel might be up the spout), I would say that the throttle response is faster than before and the power does last longer around the revs than before.

I know what you mean and it's why I've not been chasing more power.

The car is set up and runs very well with progressive power. Not peaky like you get from a huge turbo that's really too big for the engine. With the brakes, suspension etc.. it makes a nice package.

I know what you mean about reminding yourself every now and then not to go even more silly with the car!

I also try not to forget that even though we have all this RR/bhp talk on here it still did a proven 13.6 second quarter mile at the Pod, which is why that's all I quote in the sig. And I'm happy with that.

Boss fox, there's a RR day on the 25th of September mate, I'm attending with my standard-ish car ;-)

20 people at Shark :-)

That means my family get to see me for only one day for three weeks on the trot due to Skoda performance things... it's not exactly ideal. :(

While my wife is very understanding, I also believe in things working both ways.

... and I've only just mentioned the Audi I've ordered! :giggle:

Fair cop, lucky, my missus and cat pretty much hate me so I have free reign!

Try and fob it off as a present to her? Lol!

Oh my names Luke as well, I don't like talking to people usin their forum name!

Could be worse. My dad went in to work in my mum's Audi one day. Not only did he sell it without actually asking her, he took the cash and handed over the keys straight away, before waiting till the end of the day and ringing home to see if she'd go and pick him up from work. As a child, I'd never heard language like it!
