DNA remaps

Featured Replies

In group buys theres currently an offer on DNA remaps, but i havent heard much about them. I was set on a shark or unit 18 map, but everytime theres been an offer or GB on i havent had the funds to spare. If DNA are any good i think ill go in oct, if people have had bad experiences ill wait for a tried and trusted map. What are peoples opinions on DNA then??

Although no experience of them on a Fabia..

My last Octavia had a DNA map on it, and i couldn't fault it. Was done prior to me buying the car.

I'm pretty sure he used them again for his Mk2 Octavia vRS.

Although, i now have a Shark custom map on my Fabia, and wouldn't go anywhere else now.

DNA used to do custom remaps for the V5 VAG block. I never had it done personally when I had my V5, but the many who had over on golfv5.co.ukstrongly recommended them. You could try searching over there for some reviews?

Hey dude hope you're well. I miss that car...... Still :(

Yeah I had a DNA stage 1 map on my Mk1 Octavia, it gave very good RR figures and didn't run stupid boost. DNA make their own maps so can charge a low price as they dont need to pay for them, they also supply to many dealers including R-tech.

I have had stage 1 and now Stage 3 is currently on my Octavia, both were and are excellent! My friend also has stage 1 on his Audi A4 DTM and is very happy with it.

They also have over 25 years experience in tuning so your car is in safe hands.

One thing to note is that petrol and diesel tuning are very different beasts. Proficiency in one doesn't necessarily carry over to the other. So while DNA are probably very good at petrol engines (i.e. the 1.8T and V5) it doesn't automatically mean they're good at PD tuning. After my experiences, my money would be heading to Shark every time.

Thanks for the advise. I guess your right, some tuners are better for petrol some for diesel. Think ill personaly hold out for a shark or unit18 as they are the popular recomendations and the ones i originaly decided on.

Unit 18 is well worth the visit, I'm quite often heading down that way from west mids, hour and twenty mins tops and easy to find.

Do DNA write their own maps? Is John still not running it? Seeing as he is heavily involved in a large file sharing site for engine software I somewhat doubt it.

AFAIK they do write their own maps and for all their dealers. John is still there, they are at EJM preparation in Alcester now. Poor sod stays up till midnight and beyond on week nights preparing maps for the far east, Australia and other continents then gets up for the UK companies. I don't know how he does it :S

Let me guess how he does it £££££ ;)

I've seen one of their cut and paste efforts on a 2k Caddy and I personally would stay clear. But they obviously have some happy customers, guess that happened to be a good file swap.

It's worth noting you are biased with your unit 18 connection. I passed your comments on to John who says you're welcome to pop down to see their work. I didnt know both you and John used to work at AMD....

So he has connections with each, why would he be bias either way?

No you got it wrong. Yes they both worked at AMD (Ross as a mechanic, John as a tuner) but Both left. Ross now has connections to unit 18 who also do remaps, John started DNA tuning.

Because he use to work there. So I was right, he has connections both ways, Still no reason to be bias is it, he'll not gain anything will he if some one goes to unit 18 or DNA will he?

I don't know about that you would have to ask him. I thought Ross started unit 18 didn't he?

I was half of a partnership that started Unit18, nothing to do with me now though financially or otherwise.

Guys, i really appreciate peoples opinions on the different tuners. Ive heard lots of great things about shark and unit 18 but nothing of DNA until now. Can we please stay on topic about dna so that it doesnt start another arguement or get the thread closed as it might prove useful in future searches. Thanks.

Sorry buddy, just gets a little annoying when people who know what they are talking about ie techie have what they say talked down by people who haven't a clue (by there own admission)

Anyway, iv had a unit 18 map, can say I'm 100% happy with it, top notch. I'll say no more now

Cheers

Matt

Unfortunately Ross is not a tuner and while I greatly respect his knowledge as a mechanic the wizardry surrounding ECUs is best left to the pros.

I have one of or maybe the most powerful mk2 Tfsi Octavia with standard turbo on the forum, proven by Dyno dynamics RR. My car runs much less boost than any other map of the same stage I have seen, Revo and Shark included, So if this is a bad map bring it on B)

Much less boost? Really?

So show us the logs then.

There's nothing biased about Tech1e's comments, they are facts every real tuner knows in this industry.

repeat post

I'll PM you it's going off topic
