Done my axle bushes at the weekend, put poly ones in,noticed now that theres vibration at certain speed, has anyone else had this problem?

Yes, I removed mine and went back to standard for a much more comfortable drive.

Only put the polys on as i did it on my mk4 20vt and they were spot ,didnt think it would drive like this, feels like the rear wheels are out of balance :(

Poly bushes have a shore rating, to high and the vibration can be horrid. You can also effect camber and tracking, as poly bushes don't compress when the weight of the car is on them. Rubber bushes deflect up slightly, poly bushes just sit there.

Swap the wheels around and see if it changes, I've got poly bushes in my rear axle and don't get any vibration.

I've got polybushes all over (had the rears on for 4yrs now at least)......only vibration I get is from the lower engine mount (slight).

Did you tighten the bolts up as it says in the Haynes????

Check my post..... B)

REAR SUSPENSION:

Main pivot bush through bolt & nut = 45Nm (33lbf ft)+ 1/4 turn. Always renew nut. These should be done up so that they just touch the mounting bracket, then refit wheels etc. and lower car to ground. Open hatch and bounce car up and down from centre of hatch lower lip (this settles the bushes). Now you can fully tighten the bolts up (leave the car on ground!!)

Piston strut to beam bottom mounting bolt & nut = 40Nm (30lbf ft)+ 1/4 turn. Always renew nut. These should be done up so that they just touch the mounting bracket, then refit wheels etc. and lower car to ground. Open hatch and bounce car up and down from centre of hatch lower lip (this settles the bushes in piston mounting). Now you can fully tighten the bolts up (leave the car on ground!!)

Piston rod nut to top mounting = 25Nm (18lbf ft)

Top mounting bracket to bodywork bolts(two of) = 30Nm (22lbf ft)+ 1/4 turn. Always renew.

Stub axle bolts (four off) = 30Nm (22lbf ft)+ 1/4 turn. Always renew.

Main 12 point hub nut = 70Nm (52lbf ft)+ 1/12 turn (30 deg). Always renew. This one doesn't need car to be on ground etc. like front one!!

Road wheel bolts = 120Nm (89lbf ft). Tighten up in diagonal cross pattern.

Might go bk to standards,do you need a press to put standard bushes bk in?

Hefty bolt and big washers, or a gear puller and large socket.

They don't recommend them for the 1.4tdi's but not heard of any problems with any other TDi.

Probably worth checking the bolts.

I was thinking of doing mine but might just replace with new standard ones.

I would double check to ensure everything has been put back together correctly.

There can be a slight vibration when first installed but they do tend to settle down.

I hope that helps.

Thanks

What bushes did you use?, Note that the Powerflex bushes for example though the same bush as the MK4 Golf/Octavia they go around the other way on the Fabia.

I fitted mine the other way around to yours! :wonder: .......I fitted them the same way around that the OEM Skoda ones were which was the same way Powerflex say! Which is the same way as when the bush is used in the MKIV Golf.

thats the way i did mine,is that the wrong way round?

Powerflex instruct which ever way the bush came out it should go back in the same way.

Fabias go in the other way to the Octavia, the Octavia beam uses a separate bolt on mounting plate for the big bush where as the Fabia is spot welded to the rear chassis leg.

On my Fabia they are the other way around the same a Fabdavrav fitted them, no problems so looks like it yes. I'll confirm with an OE car tomorrow but mine have been in for 30k+

For example,

Mk4 Golf, bushes go from inside to outside

Fabia rear beam, bushes go outside in

great, just thought they would go the same way as the mk4 golfs

This doesn't apply to the VRS bushes though does it? The more solid lemforder ones... They go in from inside>out don't they...?

Just wanted to confirm that before I go tinker tomorrow ;)

I thought they went the same way as all other Fabia ones it's just they have an additional disc that goes on one side?

Hmmm.

To be fair i've just fitted some inside>out - will have to see what happens.

At the worst I just get some more and replace - but initial run seemed ok...

My hands however are shot now hahaha

done mine inside out, drives fine till about 70mph and i start to get abit vibration, looking at the way the bushes are in now,i cant see what difference it would make which way you fit them

I fitted the solid vrs/cupra R bush on the rear... Will let you know if I notice any difference or issues fitting in>>out tomorrow.

Edit: You don't think it could just be alignment that's gone out?
