215/45 17" Tyres

Featured Replies

Morning folks,

I got the lend of a set of 17" wheels last night to use whilst i refurb my own wheels, but the tyres are 215/45 17" and look pretty beefy.

Will these fit ok or scrub at all? My car isn't lowered and has factory suspension ATM so hoping they should be ok. for a week or 2.

If it isnt loweed i wouldnt of thought it would rub... i run 215/40/17 on mine and its quite low ;)

Thanks Chris, thats great!

Anyone else?

The wheels came from a MK4 golf so the fit etc should be 100% btw :)

Any pics mate, I'm undecided either to fit 205 45 17 or 215 40 17 to my spiders when I get them refurbished ready for spring once winter is done with.

40 profile keeps it the correct size for the fabia. I could understand using a larger size if stuck for wheels, but if your buying them i`d get the right size tbh

I thought 205/40's are the correct sized for 17 inch wheels. These will have the same outside diameter (Rolling Radius) as the standard vRS tyres.

If you use those tyres (215/45 17), they will be 34mm (5.75%) larger in diameter, than the standard 205/45 16. You could probably get away with 215/40 (13mm, 2.2% larger), but 205/40 is the best match.

Depends on the width. I`d prefer 215/40 because they give a little more side protection to the wheel

Matt

Cool thanks for that chaps 215 40 17 its going to be then, as you kindly mentioned this size giving a tad more wheel protection.

Well... they fit... just, but i certainly wouldn't recommend them.

Seem to be ok and don't catch anywhere except the rear passenger arch liner on right hand corners.

They won't be on for too long anyhow :)

Get the wider ones, less chance of kerbing And damage from flying chippings.

they will be catching at the back of the arch liner passenger side. this is a box that sticks out doesnt protect anything get a rubber mallet and hit it flat the tyres wont rub anymore
