Not a lot, Big K... not a lot!

When in a while back I enquired why I hadn't had any indication of needing a service, and they suddenly decided my car was only a few hundred miles away from it - dash display now flashes the service reminder when I start up...

So did I mess up or did they?

Marlborough Skoda's service pricing is here. Bear in mind that it is a W London (Isleworth) dealership and that the prices probably reflect expensive labour rates. Most members who have seen and commented on those prices haven't been charged anywhere near them by their own dealers. Those with Fabia 1.9 diesels will be trading them in before the 60K service! :(

hi all

I have a 2000 octy slxi 1.8t. and the dealer wants 170 quid for a 30k service (3rd service not a major one), this is a fixed service, independant vag specialist 100quid using original parts, guess where its going lol.

Sorry Rob - must have missed your original query. Car was serviced at Caffyns in Ashford, Kent - they are an official Skoda dealership and also run a Vauxhall dealership in a separate building next door. They seemed pretty friendly and efficient.

Thanks. Mine is coming up to 30k and I had the car switched back to fixed 10k intervals at 20k.

I'll give them a call when its due and see what they quote me compared with more local dealers. I am always prepared to travel.... now thinking .... loan car, day trip to France, collect car after service ;) May be an insurance problem with that idea !

Just had my 1.6 in for 30k service this morning (oil change, check over + requested air filter change).

I've just been told my 40,000 service for my TDI is going to be

Being young's a pain...at least you live in a decent area... ;)

Any idea if the 60k is as steep as is rumoured?

To add to this thread re the 30k Octavia cost, I've just been quoted "about

So whats the deal with the variable servicing then?

Do you have a choice?

If your car has the factory set-up for variable servicing, you can have it changed back to fixed interval (10k) servicing if you want. I ran an Audi on variable servicing & long life oil for 45k with no problems, but as the car has been remapped, I'd prefer a 10k rather than a 16k+ oil change. Just a personal choice.

So how does the cost of variable and fixed servicing compare?

Is it the case that it's either several small amounts for fixed or one large payment for variable with them near enough balancing out?

This is a darn sight cheaper than servicing the Impreza was !

I believe that you can only go variable if you have been using the correct Longlife oil from new.

As always with Denis, he's not often wrong. Once on fixed, you stay fixed. (Although I believe Jon uses longlife oil even on fixed intervals, so maybe he could get away with it). I don't even know if the dealer can switch back to variable in the ECU once it has been switched to fixed.

Hmmm... where's big k or skodaw when you need them?

:D

I've just had a 40,000 mile service (2nd variable service) carried out on my vRS - total cost a mere

My vRs is on variable service and had its first service 18.5K after service indicator came on. Would have cost me
