what gets me is people want/wanted an iPhone 5 without seeing any specs. People have been wanting it for months.

Against other brands where the details come out to build hype which is how the Desire and Galaxy S became so big, and the S3 is becoming a.must have with its 4.7" screen and 2.6ghtz quad core processor.

Hence why apple has gone to block Samsung sales around the world.

Do you have full specs for the S3?

Don't know why people are so surprised seeing as they did an upgrade device once before with the 3G to 3GS. No doubt it'll sell just as well even if they are overpriced

Not an iPhone user, but can appreciate they're quite good at what they do.

4S isn't really the let down people are making it out to be.. if it had been the "5" then yeah, but as an upgraded 4 it's a nice lil job lot.. Upgraded camera looks good.

Apple website is soooooooooo crippled, HA! and facebook seems to be struggling so guess that's all the posting of the amazing new iPhone and how poor it is blah blah blah.. hehe...

(... I sold Apples in my dark misty past)

HeHe, Apple don't have ideas, they never have really,... They look at what everyone else has done and then do it with out the cr@p bits..

Only whats been posted recently on the register site.

Such a shame the Samsungs feel so cheap, otherwise great phones if a little on the large side.

as opposed to being just another drone in the hive mind mind that is the android collective.. :Dresistance is futile :p

Trouble is there isnt anything new which hasnt been done already.

HD camera - 1st done by LG

64GB - buy a 64GB microSD card on ost modern phones

Dual core CPU 1st Done by Samsung IIRC

Voice control - Nokia has had this for years and has been inbuilt into most phones for a number of years as well.

Increased battery - battery tech has moved on a lot in the last 12 months. I cant see how they've managed it whilst loading in a dual core CPU which will such power. Battery tech hasnt come on THAT much, unless they're dropping multi tasking.

I'll be getting the iPhone 4S as a replacement for my iPhone 4, I've invested too much pocket money on apps and iTunes produce to change to the darkside now. There's no point banging on about specs of this and that. The hardware only works as well as the software installed on the device. I'm sure Android is a very good OS which is why they're selling millions of phones, but the android devices I've used have been clunky and jerky and over complicated.

I'll stick with the goodness of iOS and its magic soporific sleekness.

Android is indeed a good OS. But the problem with Android is that it's very rare to actually get a pure Android experience. Buy an iPhone, you've got the same iOS as the guy next to you, on the same hardware. It's a consistent user experience.

However, if I buy a HTC Desire (which I did) on T-Mobile, and you buy one on Vodafone, we've got the same hardware with a network-"tweaked" OS on it. So mine might have come with Android 2.1 originally (which it did) and been upgraded to 2.2 (which T-Mobile eventually offered), yours might be stuck on 2.1 giving you a very different experience to me on "the same phone". It might be that I have the latest bug and performance fixes for both Android and the custom HTC Sense software so mine might be quicker, or mine might have new features slowing it down making yours quicker. Either way, there's a lack of consistency.

Similar story with the original Desire and Wildfire. A mate wanted to change from his iPhone and had seen my Desire (which by then was running stock Android without HTC extras) but he didn't want another device that big so he went for the cheaper, smaller Wildfire. Which came with an old version of Android, crippled further by HTC's Sense UI layer, and it's the slowest, most horrible device I've used in several years. The screen updates at single frame FPS when you're changing homescreens or dragging notifications, it's very unresponsive 50% of the time, etc. So the user experience on it is very poor compared to my Android device.

I think most people who complain about Android being clunky should look into debranding their phones as a minimum (which means they can get the latest software as the device manufacturer intended it, and not whatever crippled old version your network operator releases) and possibly installing one of the many good third-party OSes, I run CyanogenMod which runs quicker and smoother than any of the T-Mobile or HTC releases of Android and is more up to date so has fewer bugs.

Everyone seems to forget that while it wasn't quite as exciting as a whole new handset, the iphone 4 is still a lovely thing and upgraded internals can only be a good thing.

I am in the same situation as someone else has mentioned, i am too far in to get out. I would loose too many purchased apps etc to move away.

i am too far in to get out

Slippery slope that one isn't it? :p

you haven't tried a galaxy s or sII then!

For a geek, thats awesome, but normal people want to buy a phone, and it just works. Apple get this, even Microsoft get it with WP7.

With the proposed purchase of Motorola, Google have the power to start sorting the problem. Will they though?
