Recently became an Octavia owner - Y reg 4x4 Estate. Only downside so far is that this car has the most inaccurate fuel guage I've ever come across. Two days after getting it and for the first time in over 25 years driving - I ran out of fuel - before the fuel guage had even entered the reserve!

The fuel computer was also confidently predicting a range of 25 miles when it glided to a halt.

Has anybody else got hopelessly optimistic fuel guages / fuel computers - or is it just mine? Anybody know if they can be simply re-calibrated by the dealer?

Problems with the fuel pump and fuel sender are quite common on the 4x4. You can change the adaptation for the gauge using vagcom.
