Nexen Winguard Sport Vs Roadstone Winguard Sport

Featured Replies

All being well, I'm getting a full set of new Skoda steels, Nankang Snow SV-2 tyres 195 55 15s from mytyres and fitted privately for £370 all in. Me and arny wangled some discount on the wheels for a mini-group-buy and a friend of a friend has a mobile tyre fitting van

Cheaper than tyres for the standard monte alloys which will stay tucked away for winter. No-brainer for me really? Why spend all the time (and money) hunting down odd size tyres when there's a cheaper, better option available? Sure, the steels are a bit fugly, but the car is already impossible to keep clean for more than an hour due to the toss weather! So it's not gonna look properly pretty for a while now

check with your insurance about changing wheel and tyre sizes, mine said ok "IF" it was OE tyre size....

Skoda insurance: as long as rolling radius doesn't change

So as long as it's a stated Fabia fitment (as indicated on the filler cap) you're golden. It's been covered by a few people in the recent winter tyres threads. I think insurance companies are seeing the error of their ways, some even stating +/-5% as acceptable. But always check first ;)

Just to confirm I bought 4 Nexens too yesterday. I expect them in a week or so but it's not that urgent unless weather worsens dramatically. No experience on these before but based on reviews they will be adequate for my driving on bad days.

One thing is for sure, we'll have gathered our own briskoda review on these by the end of this winter so either they will get extremely popular next year, or we'll be buying steelies and 15's all together! We'll wait and see...

Just to say, I ordered the Nexens on the 22nd at 10pm and got them delivered today. 3 and a bit days in total! Not bad considering they've been shipped from Germany.

And first impressions before fitting the tyres are that I can't believe how sticky and soft the rubber is! You're talking to someone who's never done anything with winter tyres before today.

apparently, once tried you will never again use summer tyres in the winter ;)

Just ordered a full set :)

£74.90 each, £299.60 total.

Just to continue the spamming :giggle: I got a confirmation that they were sent today 28, (ordered on 25) and they will arrive here (France) probably on the 7th of November, being shipped from Germany.

Mine were 83,62 eur /each = exactly the same price as Stu's given the current exchange rate between EUR and GBP...

Looks like you had the last set as mytyres are no longer listing the Nexens!

They are out too? Most "different" sites are actually just a translated webpage of the same tyre shop.

I was visiting these 2 sites which I thought to be French, and then I found out there where the sames as these english ones:

Shop 1 - English

Shop 1 - French

Shop 2 - English

Shop 2 - French

So probably not as much availability as we thought... Funny thing is they are not neither English nor French, tyres are being shipped from Germany (at least from 123pneus)...

As someone has said that the Winguard Sport in Nexens and Roadstones are the actually the same tyre, just different branding then it looks like Roadstones it is as they are still available (they were five minutes ago anyway!), I've looked at the two websites Newbie69 listed and I'm a bit confuddled!

On the Pneus Online website, they only give you one option for the Roadstones....on mytyres they give you four options which are different letters after the size 205/40/17 - what do they all mean and does it matter which one I get?

Thank you

These differences concern other characteristics of the tyre as maximum speed, maximum load etc. not the tyres size so they all fit your car. That being said, I would go for the: / 84 / V / XL version.

It can accept more load than the 80 version, it is a reinforced one and also does not limit your speed to 130mph as the H version does. Of course you wouldn't need to be going that fast on snow anyway but the greater the limit the better, and they are at the same price.

Thank you Newbie69 :)
