Is it just me that quite likes this car and the new Skoda badge. I think it needs to be in a darker colour like midnight blue or black and will look pretty classy.

Definitely like the new badge. Think the car will look better in real life than in the photos - quite chunky and modern.

I don't know, maybe it is because I am preprogrammed to like Skoda, but the more I look at the Citigo the more I like it. I think it looks actually quite nice, I hope the build quality is up to the normal Skoda standards and the pricing is good and I think we're onto a bit of a winner!

I have just seen the video of the up! on facebook.

Seats in this with the pinstripe & UP! logo on them look very nice, but when video showed the boot emoticon-0104-surprised.gifemoticon-0104-surprised.gifemoticon-0104-surprised.gif there isnt one, it looks as small as the FIAT500 that I had & that wouldnt hold a weeks shopping that the Smart would .

You did seem to have a rather bad experience, have the faults been sorted on your Fabia now?

Visually, the boot looks small, yes. In terms of litres however it is significantly bigger than the 500's apparantly.

Hi James,

my son's old 2003 Fabia I has the occasional squeak or creak but its not the norm (as was the case with previous Skodas from the 90's and early 00's), However our last Octavia a 2005 model, both previous and current Yeti's and the wife's 2010 Fabia II all have had persistent rattles of one sort or another. Material quality etc. is improving but going on this track record it's at the expense of how well there put together :wonder:

Mind I will more likely than as not continue to buy Skoda over any other brand; besides this slight glitch to ownership there still producing some of the best cars on the market. The Yeti in particular is an amazing piece of design inspiration; perfect family transport for those who live in rural locations without having to get a L/R, Japanese box or made in the USA tank.

Oh the juries still out on the CityGo from both the looks and that it's not manufactured in CZ itself; it's not a true Skoda in my mind :wonder:

TP

I like the VW Up! a lot and having sat in quite a few at the Frankfurt show you really do not feel short changed in one. Lovely interior at this price point for sure........ But the Škoda and SEAT versions look too alike. WAY too alike. The Citroën C1/ Pug 107 and Toyota Aygo triplets show a lot more differentiation between marques than these three do. A real pity.

And look at the model names of the VW:

The White Up:

Though not rocket science to work out what it really spelt! hehehe

Oh...The C*ck up.

(I Thought for a second that was Jeremy Clarkson stood in front of the number plate till I realised there was no Belly.) :giggle:

It looks good - definitley a rival for the likes of the C1 / Aygo / 107. My one criticism would be that it is a shame they leave some of the paintwork exposed inside the car, it is bound to get spoilt, especially in the boot.

The navigon thing is quite cool and the new logo looks great!:

I don't like the front grill but otherwise think it looks good.

As an Aygo owner, it's actually far easier to keep clean than having black plastic smothered everywhere. Also brightens up the cabin. What I would say though, is I agree about the boot. The Aygo doesn't have as much metal exposed in the boot. The up! is available with a false floor - I think this would definitely help things in the Citigo too.

Though the CitiGo is not produced in the Czech Republic it will be produced in Slovakia...at a factory, which produced original Skoda models back in the 70s and 80s. As well as this, the same factory has been producing the Porshce Cayenne, VW Touareg and Audi Q7 (amongst others) so the VW group know why these high end cars are being produced there...and that's the quality of the workforce!

Had a look.."black up!"............that has some racist conertations re "blacking up" as per the music hall acts etc.......that won't go down well in America......mind you I doubt if it would be sold over there anyway!!!! :giggle:

Hang on has "blacking up" been re-claimed by the African -Amarican community as has the other words???? :S ...if not then VWoA will be in the s##t!!!!

The reviews are going in favor of the Skoda Citigo in relation to the other contenders. The VW up! has a funny front in my opinion and if you seat at the back the windows are much smaller making it much more claustrophobic - where it excels is in interior design and options only. The Citigo will have two engine options one being a turbo (remap? filter? exhaust? woohoo!) and if it fails at something is only in the boot where the sides are not covered with plastic or carpet but you can see through to the bodywork  Other then that I believe that VW and especially Seat (its boot door design is its major fault) will have a hard time to keep up with sales.

oh I forgot to mention that there will probably be a 5 door version.

That is just a photoshop of the five door VW Cross Up! concept. Which has been confirmed for production so I'm sure Škoda will get a five door version too.
