skoda owners previous cars

Recommended Posts

Passed my test at 17, I've not had many cars as I spent the first 6 years driving my Mums car while I was a student

1. Escort 1.3 LX (Mums car)

2. Fiesta 1.6 Si - first car I bought and insured myself, loads of fun but only did 25mpg and valve stem seals went and it started drinking oil

Image049.jpg

3. Passat 2.0 TDI - work lease car

Image039.jpg

4. Rover 400 - lovely car, lots of electric toys but as with all K-series the headgasket went :'(

Image230.jpg

5. Nissan Micra 1.0 - Had as a stopgap between the Rover and the Skoda. Was pretty reliable and very easy to work on.

6. Octavia VRS - Probably the best all-rounder I've had

Image959.jpg

7. Felicia 1.3 LXi - bought as a shopping car off another member as I don't really need a car now

Fords have always had great engines, my old man was a mechanic and always had Fords but the bodywork would always rust you could pretty much guarantee. And I think Rovers used to be a good "sensible" choice (a bit like Skodas) but things like the k series engine were nails in the coffin :-(

So true, my Capri would go like the clappers and had a superb g/box but the sills rotted thru like they were tissue paper.

It was dark purple in colour (Ford called it Aubergine) a real dust magnet, happy days lol.

If only Rover had sorted the K engine out, I heard the problem was that the head gasket was aluminium with silicone beads that eventually

blew sideways, then oil and water mixed = sludge.

I went on a rover users forum and one owner had 3 h/gaskets blow in rapid sucession, he was very upset as you can imagin at £300 a go no joke.

Passed my test when I was 23 having learned on my first car a blue skoda Estelle 120. A year later in 1990 I bought my first brand new car a grey skoda favorite forum. This lasted 3 years until the facelifted favorit came out after vw had bought a stake in skoda and I bought a red favorit lxi. By 1996 I was commuting to Glasgow every day and the 1.3 wasn't great for this so I bought a skoda Felicia 1.6 a flying machine in comparison. Then in 1998 a red 1.9 TDi octavia hatch, and in 2000 a blue octy hatch. I had some sort of mid life crisis in 2003 and bought a stone grey l& k octavia estate. In 2005 this was crushed by a falling tree while I was driving in Edinburgh. 4 weeks later I had a mk 2 octavia l& k estate in blue. This one lasted 3 years until the dealer persuaded me that I needed a 2.0 engine so a pre FL l& k estate in black was duly purchased. Around this time I changed jobs after being made redundant and stopped doing long journeys so in September I downsized to a 1.2 yeti. Oh and I also used some redundancy money to buy a vw T4 camper, so far my only non skoda vehicle!

Running my own business for many years allowed me to indulge my passion for cars. I haven't included the Vans I have owned.

I only wish I had kept some of them As they would be worth a fortune now!!

Can't say there was a car I really hated - all gave me loads of fun

My car list is very short even though I have been driving 18 years. My first was a little Metro in Black which had been fitted with an MG engine it was an old Y reg bought by Granddad for £100 sold to us as scrap dad kept it going for about 6 years then I had Red Metro don't ask, it got killed off by being hit in the rear by white van man and my insurance money got me a British Racing Green Rover 214 Si I loved that car she sadly blew her head gasket and my next car was a Citreon Xsara 1.4i and she had her something go at the back and my wheels went out of line (don't quite understand) but my friendly mechanic and dad and me found my next car my Skoda Fabia Comfort Y reg which apart from my annoying squeeking noise when going over bumps is working like a dream the emissions at my MOT 0.01%. Happy me.

Wow, I thought I have owned a few cars, some lists on here a frightening lol! Here's mine from passing my test in 2002

1. 1991 fiat panda, super edition 1000cc with 5 gears, gift from my nan it was mint 1 owner, I smashed it into a ditch sideways, oops

2. Dads Nissan primera 1.6lx, again mint example and yes..... I smashed it into a lamppost backwards!

3. 1996 pug 306 1.4, ok car but new gearbox, clutch etc got fed up

4. 2000 Nissan primera 2.0 sport, I was 19 and this was fastest car I could insure, handled very well and I loved it!

5. 2004 corsa 1.2 sxi good on fuel and insurance at time but too slow

6. 2002 skoda octavia vrs, so fast at time! Insurance was killing me lasted 8 months, gutted oy02 ojc in red.

7. 2004 Renault Clio 1.5dci, ooooooober efficient kept 2 years great car!

8. 2005 Honda cbr600 rr, kept 3 month as just too easy to be silly.

9. 2001 Nissan primera 2.0 sport, had to revisit one again and was so cheap.

10. Corsa 1.2 sxi 2006, used it for 8 month it my girlfriends car, she was banned so needed Eco for doing all our driving.

11. Pug 406 1996 bought cheap off a mate as my gf was back driving, it was crap

12. Nissan primera 2.0 sport 2001 bought with 43k on it, sold at 68k never any issues but thought I wanted something better.

13. Civic type r. 2002, I hated it, wanted my Nissan back!! Kept 6 weeks.

14. Bmw e46 325i sport 2004 bought with 36k on it, mint as anything ever! Loved it soon much, old man rear ended it at 50mph+ dead!

15. 2004 Saab 9-5 aero manual, stop gap car fast oh yeah but handling.....oh dear

16. Current 2005 octavia vrs, got it mapped, bushes etc and love it, did not want to sell my first vrs so glad to be back.

See a pattern with Nissan primera sports? If I ever need a cheap, nippy reliable car that handles I will have another!
