What Netbook?

Featured Replies

Hi peeps! Has anyone got any recommendations for a Netbook?

Primarily to be used for updating an online based website on the go but I might want to run a word processor and a few other bits too.

Budget of around £300?

For what you want to spend, I'd get a cheap full-size laptop.

Check out www.ebuyer.com for Acer ones!

I've got a full size laptop already :) just need something a bit more portable...:)

The HP ones are good, if it comes with 1GB ram then check out crucial.com for an extra GB.

Can't go wrong with this site:

I bought my netbook (Lenovo Ideapad S12 ION) my sister bought her laptop from there and my mum bought the top one the acer from there the other week.

Really good service with super fast free shipping and the prices are pretty competitive.

Netbooks aren't vastly different from each other anyway. For your budget, definately grab one with the dual-core Atom CPU, it makes a surprising difference. Then upgrade it to 2Gb RAM and it's flying (comparatively speaking) :)

Go and see a few and try out their keyboards too, some are more compact than others and you might find that uncomfortable. Otherwise HP and Acer seem to be the top sellers.

A netbook did not cut it for me, so I bot a 12.1" Lenovo X61T, secondhand off the bay. Core2 Duo 2.2Ghz, 4GB Ram, 160GB Drive, decent onboard graphics, 3 x USB, extended battery and docking station for £190.

Battery life is around 6 hours to, the power of a reasonable laptop with the portability of a netbook.

Tablet PC?.. acer iconia or somethin like that?

TBH netbooks are dead and buried.. only get one if its cheap (less than £150)

That's why I got a good X61T instead of a Netbook in the end, a "proper" laptop, shrunk down to 12.1", great VCDS tool as well. They can be picked up for peanuts.
