So... Yeti 1,8TSI 4x4 DSG ordered

Featured Replies

Love your photos. I am getting my bronze Yeti on Thursday but wish we had that option of a black roof here in the UK. If they make it in the factory anyway, why can't we get it here? No doubt someone in this forum has the answer.

VAG policy is strange.Yeti is so good in the car. I hope that they open up all the industry with UK customers, two colors and 4x4 petrol engine with dsg! I really know that it works!

Does not have the option to subscribe to the flappy paddles on the steering wheel.

You will just have to retro fit like me then........

Looks good! Is this the Vrs-steering wheel? Or your own project? Interesting, the first time i see a Yeti!

This is a 3 spoke multifunction perforated leather vRS Octavia steering wheel, very easy to fit and program using VCDS.

Can be supplied by your dealer, but possibly not activated, as they may not know how to do it, but in VCDS it takes just a few seconds. Ben at Shark Performance in Mansfield UK, a site sponsor, supplied and fitted mine.

The part number is 1Z0419091AKUYQ

Thanks rockhopper! All of the information is a valuable piece of Yeti. I was wondering what should i do. I think that i am testing my first 4x4 Yeti and probably next month go to run Yeti all the time! Thanks to all you assistance in!

good to see I'm not the only one any more here with petrol-4x4 with DSG. My car will arrive also tomorrow if all goes by plan. Then a quick PDI, wintertires etc. I hope to have a little run-in and then will talk to MTM about remap  Can't wait til tomorrow.... :hi:

PS. Already searched for VRS steeringwheel... As soon as I get rid of standard, flappy-paddles go in

Yeah I love the pic's and the internal shots are great. I would love one speced out like that. Its looks like a real hot number.

I too am puzzeled by the UK option for DSG only being available in two engine sizes and only on the 4X4 it does seem odd to me. Maybe though its a cost thing.

Hi Ents, a lot of good luck in a new car and welcome to use petrol 4x4 Yeti. I look forward to yours steering wheel project.

Looks great ents marvelous pictures, great colour and with diesel prices here and if they were available in UK if was ordering now I would be seriously thinking of petrol. The new bronze with the sporty spec when shown on European brochure last year I did enquire about changing my spec but not available UK .....then I would need to buy a bike.windsurfer, skateboard and pretend I was not just coming up to 60!

Cheers

Finally! About a week ago, I got a hold of a great new Yeti  First 700km are gone and I'm more and more satisfied with a car. Engine is still on "run-in" mode but it is getting more relaxed by hour. Flappy-paddles went in like charm. BTW... I went for red-stitching. Also - Bolero made way for Columbus. When pictures will be taken, was thinking of starting a little project here. Many mods still circulate in my head...

That is one smashing colour! LOVE that. Alas we can't get Cayenne Orange. That is what it is? Enjoy the car!

Wow, that is a very nice colour on a Yeti.

Absolutely love that colour! Gorgeous and really suits the Yeti shape. :-)

Cayenne Orange is exactly what it is! And yes - i'm really happy i went for it and payd a little extra for that special colour - makes it a little different among other Yetis (and Skodas in general)

Thank You all for confirmation I've made a right decicion :sun:

I like that. Brilliant. I look forward to seeing the pictures.

So 2000 km done and my cars "brains" were sent to MTM for a reprogramming. I have my fingers crossed that they can make the miracle happen... If it will be anything close to 150-160kw (they offer 165kw for manualt 1,8TSI) then I will be really happy. Wish me luck - beacuse they do not offer a program for exactly my version (112kw/DSG) at all in their website. But we did not tell them that :giggle:

Er... sorry, what's "MTM"?

Yesssss! I got my car back. MTM did their magic and my snowman moves like no other "brick" on road  I now have to contact them and ask how many horses they released  But the feeling is like more than 200hp... Happy days!

Congrats! I guess from now on I have to be extra careful when driving in Tallinn not to get in the way of a Cayenne Orange-coloured rocket... :smirk:

What do you think of a possible negative impact on durability that such a herd may have?

I was wondering the same thing, but Superchips reckon their remap has no effect on engine life, and their guarantee takes over if the manufacturer stops guaranteeing your engine because you've had their remap. This one appeals to me because it does not require removal of the ECU, merely a reprogram via the diagnostic port, though it's not peanuts at £455

I'd be interested to hear from anyone that's had a Superchips remap done to their 1.8TSi (160PS), particularly the effect on fuel consumption (whilst appreciating that everyone drives differently!).

I'm not afraid of any negative impact as MTM offers this upgrade to loads of VW Group cars. And MTM is very respectable (if not the best) company in its field. And.. as told before somewhere in the thread, I have factory warranty 4 years... So no worries there:)

PS: I had similar upgrade on my 2,0TFSI Leon. 5 years went without ANY problems. DSG and engine itself took all abuse very well and that car went around hobby competitions and circuits more than couple of times.

I actually trust removal of ECU and sending it to proffesionals more than some DIY thingy via diagnostic. But I do not argue that Bluefin is any less efficient.

Experience has shown that fuel consumption should be even less with normal driving because power comes earlier in the RPM range (sorry if I'm not expalining correctly  ) If You "step on it" then ofcourse... power has come from somewhere :sun:
