Beware if you have VRS on order

Featured Replies

Well,

there i was soooooooo close to my build week 47 (currently 43). I was expecting my car to confirm in the next couple of weeks.

I ordered it on April 27th, 6 months today infact. Today i contacted Skoda UK as i had a feeling..........turned out i was right.

The horrific news was it's now week 8!! which is last week in Feb 2012.

This was due to the ambiguous term 'production delay' yeah - no sh#t.

I have been the most patient ever over waiting for my lovely Candy white VRS, but now i'm 90% sure i will cancel it.

To mess people around like this is a joke, and they have had £1,500 of my money since April and by the time it's at the dealer it would be 6 weeks off a years wait.

Angry?! just a bit.

If you have a VRS on order...........DO NOT GET EXCITED!!

That seems a bit of a long wait for a fairly run of the mill car.

To be expected I'm afraid. The weak pound means they make less money on them, so why not delay it and build a European car that will make more? Not saying it's right, but they are a business at the end of the day.

My best advice to give to people wanting a VRS, I know this will not help you in your particular case for which I apologise, is to visit dealers who have demo VRS's on show and purchase one of those.

I know it is a compromise, as you cannot get exactly what you want, but it means you will have the car in a matter of weeks. This is what I did.

But to the above story, I agree, the waiting times are particularly horrendous. If you can grin and bear it, which I imagine is quite difficult at this stage, I would hold on and wait for the car as it is a fantastic car!

I would love to stick it out, but i don't think i have it in me.

I'm looking at demo's at the moment, but it grates looking at year old cars, not with the spec i ordered for more money than i'm paying for my new one.

I'm venting..........so annoyed!

Have they not got any new unregistered ones on their way over here on the system left? They had about half a dozen as of a week or so ago, including a white one with leather.

Threaten to make an official complaint and try and get some free stuff or cash back.

Skoda must have made some interest off your money in there account as well

Yikes,

I ordered mine a couple of weeks back and was originally told 5 months but then the dealer gave me a build date of week 48, which I believe is around mid January. Does anyone think being an estate will affect it one way or the other in terms of delays?

As for your order, I would stick with it mate and vent your frustration at Skoda UK, demand money off or extra kit, it will be worth it all once you get the keys

BONGO: I don't think leather is an option on the VRS, but i will be asking whats in the system.

BLAIR: Week 48 is either the back end of 2012! or for your sake 28th Nov 2011.

I am going to try maybe and get some freebies, but there has to be a point when you say "you know what? stick it!!"

Bye eck i'm close to that now.

Leather is not an option as far as I know.

Regular stitching or red stitching on fabric seats.

ouch i feel for you matey, i ordered 4 weeks before you and i have it, why in 4 weeks have they made such an extension to the delivery date from mine to yours? its just crap

do you have a p/x or anything, if so id demand a loan car for the duration? you run the risk of repair bills on your own car if not

wonder if slowda uk can do the running around for you at dealers and get something for the price you agreed on, its about time they pulled their finger out and helped us

the cars a good un but its not that good, there are other good cars out there

My local dealer have a white vRS in the showroom unsold...

£17190 - Candy White with Black Gigaro's... that's all I could see on it when I was in there the other day.

I don't have a part-ex, i can time when i want to hand my current car back, although they did offer me a loan car.

£17k isn't that attractive when i'm paying £14,600 with 7 added options.

Seems like i'm stuck with one choice if i want a car with the spec i want........MINE!!

To be fair i can't fault Vindis in Cambridge, but i feel as though i am fighting to spend money. There's no offers of anything, i'm the one doing all the chasing and asking all the time. Reciprocate dammit!!

This is a brand new one so no VAT deals, I guess there are no deals to be had on it - unless you can haggle well but getting to 14.5k could be tough! You have a few choices, wait ages, buy a demo or new one in stock or find something else

This is a brand new one so no VAT deals

I thought the current offer included the vRS, free servicing too when bought on HP. Could be wrong.

I read somewhere that the problem was the DSG, VAG making 1,500 daily which just isn't enough. 8 months is being quoted on the non-vRS DSG models at the moment. There are ways to jump the queue though :)

I ordered a vRS estate on the 12th of August, the order had a required date of 31st December, but I was told to expect it in February 2012 - I don't want the car until March though, so for now, I'm not too concerned. :|

I ordered mine when the 5% VAT offer was running. :)

The current no VAT offer does not include vRS models. :(

Makes it an expensive car when no VAT deals/offers!

When you think that the MK1 vRS was £12,280 ish the new hatchback at £17,100 ish is bloody expensive! I know its got alot more gadgets and better this and that but still alot of money. Glad I got my vRS estate on the 20% offer :smirk:

Feel sorry for you as this is a joke. Only you can make the decision to pull out although with the deal you got you wont find a new or nearly new one at that price.

Maybe the delaer with sweaten it a bit more and 'lend' you a vRS for the remaining period to make up for it - presuming they have a demo vRS

Good Luck.

I doubt they will give him a vRS for 4-6 months! Maybe a 1.2 Classic...

As of Monday just gone there was 4 Vrs' on the stock computer 2x Blue, 1 Green and 1 Red that were still up for grabs, from what I can remember the Green had the higher spec with options chosen.

If that's of any help, the price most people payed worldwide for a new vRS is more around 17-18K GBP (myself included) rather than 14K through special VAT offers which I saw existing only in the UK.

Of course if you had the chance to grab it at 14K you would most probably feel disappointed that eventually you may have to pay some more to get it, but, even 17 or 18K, I don't feel is a high price for a car like this and all the things it offers to the driver. I think even at these prices it offers best value for money compared to the competition and that's why I chose it over other cars.

It's more that with these offers, it could be feasible for more people to get their hands on it, people that normally couldn't consider it an option. But if this option is over then it's not that the car suddenly got more expensive, it just returned to its standard price, a price which by means of market comparison is the one it should be offered anyway.

PS. Also, that was another reason I had criticized the fact that the car is so "naked" from standard equipment in UK compared to other EU countries. For example, the only problem for me was to find one ready, with the color combination I wanted because all equipment I desired was standard anyway, so it would be in every car that I would buy, so no need to wait for a factory order. If that was the case with Skoda UK, then you could most probably find an alternative very easily I reckon.

Can only express my sympathy for you mate. After ordering 14th April, I took delivery 2 weeks ago today. I will say that as late as August I was being quoted week 50, then week 48, and then all of a sudden it came rolling down to week 39 which was the final build date. Maybe this could be a lesson in letting them give you the worst case scenario and then (fingers crossed) rolling backwards.

My other tip is to not believe any of the cynical old wives tales about allocations etc, the industry is more complex than that.

Know how you feel.

Ordered a 1.2Tsi DSG Elegance Estate with quite a few options on the 1st Feb earlier this year. Traded in a Jeep straight away to get best trade in price as it was a spare vehicle so dealer had £11k of our money.

Quoted build time was 12 to 16 weeks at order but this soon went to 20 to 28 weeks. We got build dates and these changed week 32 the week 44 then the build date dissapeared. After another stressfull meeting at the dealers we were informed of an unconfirmed build week of week 6 2012 which would mean over a year for delivery.

We said this wasn't acceptable and got Skoda UK involved who couldn't do anything apart from confirm that the car wouldn't be here until early next year. Looking on the system there were no cars suitable.

We started talking about cancelling and the dealer principle started to get really annoyed saying we would loose our deposit etc. I knew he couldn't do that but he was trying it on, they'd had £11k of our money sitting in there bank for months too. Have a look at my signature and look at our past Skoda's, nearly all have been bought and serviced at the same dealer.

So I contacted What Car magazine who had been running a web article about delayed delivery especially on VAG group cars. Just one email to Skoda UK and within 24 hours they had found a car on the production line that was acceptable, the dealer would retrofit some options, there would be a further discount and we received three years free servicing.

Moral is fight your corner and bring in the magazine's if you can.

This has really put a dent in our Skoda loyalty though, I wonder if Skoda realise what damage these delays are doing to their loyal customer base, will people who have bought Skoda this time and had long delays trust Skoda to deliver a new car to schedule again?

What it has done for us is made us change dealer, that's three family Skoda's that will now be serviced at a different dealer.

The dealer should have bent over backwards for a customer such as myself but they took a It's just how it is attitude and then got shirty when we talked about cancelling.

Cheers

Lee

That's pretty brave, especially in the current economic climate. I'd be nervous about leaving any more than the minimum (£500), the difference should have been in your bank.

Twice I've been fortunate to find, with a bit of phoning round local(ish) dealers, one with a car with the correct engine/gearbox combo on order already (as a demonstrator or stock car) - colour/trim/options can be changed up until a certain point maybe 6-8 weeks before build.
