I have a Skoda YETI 'E'

Featured Replies

Shush it's a winter tyre thread :D

No I've not traded in the cube for squared just yet :giggle: however I've briefly fitted the winters and first impressions are favourable for the Hankooks (215/60 R16 99H XL) in at least there quieter than the summer Continentals. Running at temperatures of 13 deg I could not detect any change in handling characteristics, even with the winters set at the recommended 2.4 bar (+ 0.2 bar over standard).

Once I find some more challenging rubbish conditions I'll update all.

Ian

It is however a thread which gives an account of the effect on a Yeti of the tyres-could some Octavia owners please help with this issue?

Oooh, how lovely those winter tyres look ... on your YETI

But how good would they look on an Octy?

Very nice, TP.

At least those tyres still seem to fill the arches (of a Yeti) very well.

Could the moderators please delete the above post which has no mention of YETI in it as far as I can see.

Tyres would look ok I guess. Pass on the wheels though. B)

Motor looks good in white.

Yeti, Yeti,Yeti (does that make this okay? Yes, great) I left work at 3pm today and after following, and contributing, to the main thread of the day I was angry and full of hell regarding a few non Yeti owners who seemed determined to dive in and irritate the hell out of the decent people on this forum. Their posts seemed almost semi organised, have I watched too many episodes of Spooks?, in a hugely negative way. I decided not to read any more of that thread, I think at some point I would have cracked, sworn, been abusive and been banned, but would continue looking at other posts, unless they were all infiltrated. Then I came across this thread, with no inflitrators sent by the CIA, KGB or SMERSH. Instead I found the familiar YETI (did you like what I did there?) humour and friendly banter that I have come to expect. Rejoice.

Hopefully this thread will remain here as a guid for YETI owners who may want to put Hankooks on the car. Keep the updates coming, as someone who recently bought 4 tyres and trawled the web looking for advice I can confirm it will be appreciated.

I only looked, because I was surprised somebody had bought a Yeti "E". :wonder:

but mine's an elegance 170 - what fe**ing tyres do i need to avoid next week when the temperature drops to 7?

On a serious note George, would go for Goodyear Vector 4seasons on your original Spitzburgs. should be ideal for your beautiful part of the world, come sun, rain snow, dogs, sheep etc. Have a set waiting to fit to my lads FABIA I, as I've already got two cars to change wheels on without adding a third :giggle:

Regards as always,

One year on, still very impressed with the Goodyear vector 4seasons on the Yeti.

In 17 inch standard tyre size.

TP,

Are those wheel trims over the OEM VAG steel wheels or the MyTyres version ? I think they look great and want to get a set - could you tell me the model and cost for 4 ?

Taa.

Hi,

all genuine Skoda (VAG); the rims are 7Jx16 ET45 bought from a local dealer last January from memory £170 for the set (just missed the 17% vat  ) Wheel trims are the 'Rif' desgin as found on the Yeti 'E' and some base model Superb II's in Europe. Had those since 2009 and originally fitted them to the previous 140. Again from memory they were about £90, so not cheap but good quality and they look right to me anyway. Sold my original winter tyres and rims to another forum member, as I didn't want them sat idle for nearly two years.

The wife's Fabia uses mytyre rims and like the Yeti we use proper Skoda trims but they don't fit quite as well. Therefore if your fitting original trims I'd opt for genuine rims.

Regards,

TP

Regardless of the tyres I really think white is the best yeti colour. Black steelies would look much nicer on a white one than they do on mine.

Agreed.

I have a set of Vreds waiting for my white YETI to arrive some time before Xmas - allegedly! (It's a sore point at the moment and I know I'm not alone in this issue of YETI waiting times)

The smoke screen worked then

Did it? :smirk:

Thanks. The rims I have are the VAG ones you have, but no matter how hard I think I can live with the black, I'm really a boy racer at heart and will probably go for the Rif ones you have - defeats the purpose of the winter look, but hey-ho !

White is going to look so odd in the winter - may have to put reflective strips on it. What about this :

I do like it

I have to say I really like that.

Odd comment maybe, but it just looks right.

Still probably 5 or 6 months until my white one arrives though. :(

White looks fine in the winterbcdc4118-1be1-0484.jpg

with black steel wheels
