How do you test the MAF with VAGCOM?

Featured Replies

So i've never had a diesel before...

On 1.8Ts its easy to test the MAF as you just look at airflow over the rev range (when driving)

I went to the same place but cant find anything.

Do you do it differently on a TDI?

Thanks

Same thing but different blocks. Pretty sure on the TDI it's either block 010 or 011; if you scroll up from block 001 it should be easy to find, you're looking for one with requested airflow (mg/str), actual airflow (mg/str), and MAP duty cycle (%) together.

Ah!

So is it actual that I'm looking at then? (I guess thats taken from the MAF)

And I should be seeing a peak of about 110?

Wait on, whats mg/str?

I'm used to seeing grams per second - g/s

Pretty sure the MAF readings are recorded in milligrams per stroke but without going outside and plugging in, I could be wrong.

I've never logged my Fabia (at least not MAF flow, I've only got a MAP graph kicking around) so I'm not sure what figures you should be seeing on a ASZ/BLT but on my old Leon (PD150 ARL engine) under load it would be specified 850mg/str, with an actual figure usually above that:

850 891.8

850 1249.5

850 1038.8

850 1097.6

850 1195.6

850 1161.3

850 1131.9

850 1117.2

850 1127

850 1127

850 1117.2

850 1082.9

850 534.1

375 494.9

275 494.9

850 504.7

345 504.7

305 494.9

260 480.2

I usually log requested and actual readings during a test drive and play the back on VAG Scope. Seeing them on the screen together, you can tell straight away if the MAF is reading wrong.
