Featured Replies

Hi,need some advice,i have a deal where i can swap my 07 55k vrs for a bmw 330cd with all the extras sat nav oatmeal leather and its the M SPORT 37k,i have to give £4750 cash, what i want to know is it a good deal?will i like the car, will the ride be to hard, will it be much different than the vrs, just want someone to convince me its a good deal, thanks guy's.

Get the car valuated. Loads of website do it. Including parkers which gives you a base one for free. Thatll give you a scope for price.

In terms of whether youd like The car. It's all down to personal preference mate. Take it for a test drive and see how it feels.

Thanks,he is valued his car at £12k and iam asking £6k for mine,i just wondered if anyone had driven one of these, and how practical it would be,i do a lot of town driving?.

+1 you need to know the value of both cars 1st (Edit: just seen you last post)

Don't forget BMW's are hopeless in the snow, so at this time of year you have the upper hand., you really need to either factor in either not using the car at all if it snows, or a set of winter wheels and tyres as well.

I have owned half a dozen or so BM's (including the E30 M3  ) but whereas they can be specced really nice they are not generally value for money.

depends what driving your doing around town driving in a 330d is expensive, know a few people with them and they range from 18 to 28 mpg in town

Great engine in those cars

Amazing once mapped

Double check the indicators work :giggle:

O.K,does this mean don't buy it? i get 60mpg i don't want to drop to 20mpg,just read great reviews about this car the best engine ever, now really do not no what to do,thanks for your imput.

Looking on autotrader it is certainly cheap (but why?)

As said if you can live with not driving it in the snow (or have £500+ for winter wheels/tyres) and are prepared to take the big drop in economy and increase in insurance / tax / tyre costs etc then why not.

Personally I would not buy another BM though.

Thanks, the insurance is £258pa cheaper than the vrs,the spec says it has anti slip so snow should not be a problem, full bmw service history 37k,cost new with extras £36k,i could never afford to buy this car with cash, someone just tell me its the right thing to do please.

,the spec says it has anti slip so snow should not be a problem

I assume he means a LSD (limited slip diff) this will certainly help (my M3 and 325i both had LSD's) but it's the wide low profile tyres coupled with rear wheel drive that makes them useless in the snow compared to any FWD car.

Won't make much difference really

The 330cd is a superb car! I nearly bought one instead of the fabia. But be advised like said already, fuel economy is nowhere near what you have now. Expect around 35-40 mpg best case scenario. It's 3 litres after all

Just buy it :) you won't regret it :)

Fantastic car, amazing engine. As others have said expect a big drop in economy though. Still as much as I love my VRS it's a monumental step up. Expect servicing to step up with it.

+1 to that. in winter tyres you'll be fine. In anything else leave it at home, especially if it is an Auto. I have a 330ci auto and in the snow it's an animal especially coming up to junctions. You have to knock it into neutral otherwise you have the ABS going crazy on the front wheels trying to stop you and the rear wheels are still trying to push you along because of the torque converter.

That said....buy it....you'll love it.

Awesome cars, used to drive my ex's. As everyone has said though, It will cost more to run/service and just seriously don't drive it in the snow with standard tires or you will stick it in a hedge/ditch/wall.

Hi Guy's not going to buy it all the talk of snow and no grip, plus the mpg has put me off, looks like i will be living with the vrs a little longer, thanks for all the imput.
