Wooshing sound on acceleration

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm getting a "wooshing" sound when I put my foot down (1.9TDI, ASV engine).

My local specialist have checked all intercooler pipes and they seem fine; the only thing they did find was that one of the smaller pipes to the boost control(?) valve had popped off. They've put that back but the wooshing noise is still there, and I think there's less power than the car's had in the past.

Last week the lower intercooler pipe popped off altogether, causing much smoke and mess.

I've had a good look aroudn this forum and the consensus is that this sound is normally turbo / intercooler pipe related.

Could it be anything else? I can't find any splits and it's all tightly screwed together. I commute 50 miles each day so need it fixing, but can't see anything wrong.

It only does it under load - i.e., when the car is moving.

Thanks.

Reesky.

Pancake pipe in the drivers side wheel arch. The joins round here tend to be troublesome, so might be worth double checking.
