Better not!!

Featured Replies

Coming back from Birmingham today I stopped at some traffic lights.A Seat Leon Cupra R tdi rolled up next to me.

I was in the Octavia vRS but I actually thought to myself, don't be smart off the lights, you might be made to look a fool! :D

I am no boyracer in any way shape or form but I do enjoy a smart smooth unflustered take off from the lights leaving people in my wake (calmly, nothing silly)

There are not many cars I begrudgingly respect but I did the Leon .I would feel the same next to a fabia vRS.

BUT there aren't many cars that cause these thoughts.I normally sit there with no feelings other than thinking I have a quick car, quicker than yours!

So, ingnoring exotica(ferrari's,TVR's,John's stealth sdi etc ;) ) what real world cars would make you think "maybe not"

I was belittled by a Subaru blue Corsa, lowered, with a big back box hanging off the back. He followed me out of a 30 zone, right on my tail, I thought 'i'll take it nice and smooth and pull away from him up to about 70-ish mph, no problem', but as I pulled away he stuck with me, only a few yards behind me, until I was hitting a speed very close to potential license-losing territory, before he pulled beside me and on into the night. Couldn't believe he was keeping with me, so from now on I am not going to try it on with anything corsa shaped. Even if it looks standard, you just never know...

A Seat Leon Cupra R tdi.

Surely the tdi version of the Leon Cupra is slower than an Octy vRS

The petrol 225 Cupra R version on the other hand needs to treated with a certain amount of respect

Yeah, Cupra R is a 225 1.8 20vt the standard cupra now called the FR is a 180 20vt or a 150 TDI.

535d needs to be handled with care..

as do 320cdi mercs if they have the brabus power kit...

the corsa may well have had an xe turbo conversion. my mate did this to his nova, stupid stupid car

My sister has just got the Cupra R version and it will be very very quick when it has run in!!! :)

Cupra R's are quick ands its always close when i've been up against one. Very wary of diesals, especially the bigger mercs and beemers. Nissan pulsars i also give i wide berth to....and Evo's......and R5's. My car is not as fast as i sometimes think

I think I've embarrassed more cars than I've paid respect to. Mainly due to being an idiot I fear.

I was absolutely **** upon from a great height by an Audi RS4 going up hill on the M1 last year.

And I was also **** upon from an even greater height by a Ford Transit on the M180 on Monday.

It was parked on the hard shoulder and had the words 'Safety camera Partnership' painted on the side. *****RS!

I am awaiting a court summons as we speak, as opposed to a

Usually anything that is very small, and looks like it packs a punch. Even if it is actually slower than my car in reality. I never try anything against any car I suspect has a better power/weight ratio than me.

Other real world cars? I'm guessing anything with big OEM wheels normally means a lot of power, so big Audis/Mercs/Lexi. Also I tend to respect a lot of Jap cars as they're VERY often a lot quicker than me.

I'll have a pop at anything, I'm not proud :D Even if it makes them pause for thought for a moment, that's a good thing. So what have I played with and lost against?

Yellow 911 GT3, gave him a bit of a shock, but he got away

Black BMW 535D, got a bit of a drubbing from him

Black RS6+ with an MTM sticker on the boot, now there's a surprise

CLK55AMG, didn't realise it was one as he was behind, only when we came off the M5 and he got ahead at some lights did I see what it was.

Got a thumbs up or a wave from all of them :D

I found out the other day Civic Type R's are pretty quick but I was on a back foot as I was in cruising mode in 5th while he pulled beside me than kicked it but i wasn't sore for losing as I didn't try. I have given a few people shocks though like RS turbo fiesta's they pull away at the lights then hit 30+ and I wave bye. Never underestimate a pocket rocket such as an R5 or 205 GTi as two of my mates have these cars the R5 is running bigger turbo and boost and the 205 runs an Mi16 conversion on throttle bodies so has beaten everything from a leon Cupra R to an M3 in Milton Keynes, only thing that stayed with him was a bugeye subaru STi type UK or something like that. Anything classic I stay away from as they're normally tuned in some way.

sod em all, try and see what happens. best fun that way(in good conditions ofcourse(unless its a launch in the rain then just go anyway and leave em wondering how))

been beat by a lot of things but also beat a fair few, was level with a clio 172 untill i missed 2nd and just sat in neutral revving like a ****

Ive only had one game in the octy and that was with a honda civic type R, now this is a car that i always resepected and always wanted to own, I know its not a super car but when i saw him coming up behind me i thought no leave it alone your gona get beat, then the devil in me made me put my foot down (duel ca/way) we are now neck and neck. I coundnt belive i stayed with him all the way to silly speeds (yes we were both giving it full beans).I no longer lust after a ctr, not as quick as i thought.

When i owned the fabia vrs i had a traffic light grand prix with my step son.

He owned at the time a golf vr6 2.8. Once again i was getting ready for defeat, the light turned green and stone me at 60mph i was just over a car length in front before we had to slow down.

There was this white car on the M5, I thought the boyracer inside had gone wacky with the decal scheme. It was a flourescent Yellow and Blue affair with some crazy badge. Also it's neons where odd they where blue and on the roof and plus there was some behind the grill. As this obviously had some grunt I left it alone.

Avoid any (and this is my own experience here! ;) ) Nissan 200 sx with a big exhaust out the back!!

Ya normal boy racer dont buy these cars and slap a big zorst on the back!!

Doing close to licence reeling speeds and he slowed down, just so i was about 4 car lengths behind then just disappeared into the distance like i was trying to set off from still. The next time i noticed one, i just stayed away and didnt bother.

Very very fast cars...

I wouldnt have mind a dabble with the TDi octy, dont think id be anywhere near the vRS.

0-120 on a private road down here, against a 146bhp Astra (mines only 115) i was only a car length behind him! What would that mean against the TDi??

Anywhere near or not??

Had some fun down in Kent - got stuck behind a little blue Corsa, chavs in, big exhaust, lexus lights, the usual. They decided they were not going to move even though I had caught them up. Massive gap in the slow lane so basically just drove past at the same speed eventually (got bored, had to get back after dropping someone off post-party).

Bit later on I had to stop for some lights. Seemed to stay red for eternity. Either way, the corsa shot past at 8x mph at a guess, just as the lights changed back to green. I just gently accelerated through the gears. In 4th I was already next to him ;) As the road merged back from dual carriage into a normal two-laner he was a small dot

There are a lot of faster cars out there no doubt - thing is, in the Furby you don't have to work too hard at driving nippy ;) and yep that's without having the need to speed (mostly hehe)

i'll have a go if they look over and edge forward, thats the sign in my eyes.

to be honest though since i got the vRS i've noticed a deffinate decrease in potential sprints... must be the car ;)
