How are they after market? Dealers say some strange things sometimes.

I'll PM you my reg number, try that and see if he can find them on system.

Eh? They are definitely a Skoda (or VW group) part. All stock Xenon equipped cars come with them. I got mine from Skoda but I don't have access to the part numbers any more (my ETKA died....)

Legend!

Softscoop is a LEGEND!

Are you actually fitting the washers as well?

Nope

Then I must be missing something, why bother fitting the covers? Sounds like a nightmare come MOT time.

Purly for cosmetic looks. I certainly won't be loosing sleep come MOT time

Each to their own I suppose, I just can't see why you'd bother. And you'll have to remove them from your MOT, if your car has covers then it looks like it has washers, and if it has washers then they have to work. The tester isn't allowed to remove any trim to see if they're just covers or not, so they would have to assume they're real washers.

Real washers arnt on all the time tho lol

No, but they should come on when you have the lights on and use your windscreen washers or whatever. If you have covers and they don't pop up, that will look very much like broken washers, which are a failure. Just seems a bit pointless to me, if you want tat to just stick on your car that doesn't do anything, it'd be much cheaper to go to Halfords :)

Those washer caps are surprisingly cheap. Have them on mine just glued on as my vRS bumper I bought was from a Xenon car. (and the mongrel isn't one...) Cheaper and more oem looking than any Ripspeed stuff. :)

Ripspeed FTW.

Just got back from Gordon Lamb skoda in Chesterfield they coast me 11.58 posted to my house.

Cost*

Stupid autocorrect.

That's what I'm saying, they don't come up everytime you wash the screen, so unless the tester is planning to blast your screen for ages then you'll be fine lol

I want it to look standard, my MOT tester won't care and it just looks more authentic. All the vRS' with Xenon's I've seen don't even work properly so I'm not fussed, I just love how it looks really!

Ah, I thought they came up every time you held the washers on for more than about a second as opposed to a quick "blip" to clear the screen. If they're testing properly then they should do though, starting next year it's part of the test that if fitted, they have to work. And if a car came in with covers on, I'd assume they were covering washers, and you're not allowed to remove them to check. I know Luke's tester won't care, but if you get someone who does it by the book, then they should care :)

You planning on getting a bumper from a xenon car with proper holes so there in the right place ?

My mate has Xenon's so I'll measure it (or get a bodyshop to measure it).

Pah! Middle of the lens and halfway down the bumper will do :D

They activate when you

a) have your main beams on

b ) you have more than a certain amount of fluid in the tank and

c) leave them on long enough to build up pressure.

Once used they won't activate for a while (not sure on exact time increment).

Should wash with dip beam not main beam.

The holes are marked on the rear of the bumper just so you know.

I call dipped beams main beams.
