HELP! Fabia Elegance 1.4

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Sorry if this is a really 'noobish' question but I was wondering if the 2000 Skoda Fabia 1.4 Elegance comes as standard with alarm or not? If so, it would include the key fob as well, right? Someone I used to know had one but don't recall if it's the same or not. His had a flip-out key with all the alarm buttons built in to it (VW-style i think).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Yes it has an alarm/immobiliser which is armed when you lock the car, it doesn't flash any lights or make any daft noises and unless you have remote central locking you'll just have to put the key in the lock like the rest of us!

Personally I don't need my car unlocked unless I'm physically close enough to it to open the door but other people I have seen like to open theirs from some considerable distance away and they like it to make R2D2 noises and flash at them and stuff :giggle:

Yes it has the alarm/imob...and the flip key remote as standard...early ones have the two button remote...later ones have the three button remote (extra button is for boot opening).. B)

Thanks, going to have a look at the car tonight. From what I can see the tan interior needs a bit of a clean but should be an easy task for the rug doctor!

my 2000 1.4 16v elegance has the 2 button flip key remote

and flashes indicators when you lock or unlock it

Thanks - put my deposit down on it today and pick it up tomorrow. Will need to sort a couple of the window buttons though - they've stuck in the 'up' position. One thing I didn't check was the stereo. What's the elegance OEM stereo like? I didn't even see if it was CD or cassette or not!

If only I were that electronically minded! Saving me posting a new thread, any idea if the red light at the bottom of the door is replaceable? One of the doors bulbs have gone and would really like that feature back.

Easy to do ....look closly at the edge of the red lens...there is a slot to fit a slot head screwdriver in and carefully lever it out the whole lens/light bulb comes out in a unit!!! B)

Might just have a go at that then. :) Been driving around in it most of the day, really fun car to drive.

Only problem I've come across is the PAS Warning light has come on and I'm getting headlight flickering. Hopefully just the sensor and not the pump like I've read around. Wrong time of year for cars to go tits up!

Also these cars need a big capacity battery in good condition.....and like you say the old PAS sensor does go... B)
