What they've done with the Monte in my opinion is to sell, the power of the color and the games it plays in your eyes, nothing more than that.

Well that's precisely the point. Not everyone wants or can afford the VRS or the power on offer but they do like the overt appearance of a glammed up Fabia. The Monte looks very different from a standard Fab, whether you like the changes or not is personal. Nobody wanting 180bhp is ever going to settle for the 105bhp (or less) from the Monte no matter which one they prefer looks wise.

Also, is that bollywood-colored Octavia in gold (!!!) wheels yours? I guess I'm surely glad you bought a Monte then! The vRS would certainly look atrocious in the hands of someone with such terrible aesthetics ... So everybody's happy in the end...

I did consider the vRS, however I'm not really that interested in the extra performance over the 105tsi or having to use DSG.

I already have had a mk2 for 4 years and the different look (only way to get the black headlights and black grill initially) to the same basic body shape was enough to draw me back to getting another Skoda. I was considering switching to an Ibiza or Polo before I caught a MC advert.

I do like the added extras fitted as standard (tinted windows, red seats etc).

So far I am loving the performance of this engine, much nicer than the 70 HTP in my experience so far. Economy initially seems much improved over my dire 41mpg average in the HTP, really hoping I can consistantly hit the high 40's as I did today.

Build quality also seems improved, my old car was a bit of a rattler from new so I was so glad to be able to drive with the stereo off for a change.

Pardon me, but my forum experience says it doesn't just happen. If different people "yell" at the same person for almost the same things all the time then it means he is doing something wrong... Hey great choice. My wife is getting the same colour 105tsi next week with black interior. Really looking forward to getting behind the wheel. Had a fabia 1.2 69bhp when I took my suberb in last week and it seemed really good (but you needed to rev the balls off it to go up a hill)

We have some added lots of extras, so will be a bargain for the next owner in 3 years time!! Hehe
