why would you want to ?

2 easy ways to fix that!

1. Put your belt on.

2. Do as nr. 1 prescribes.

VCDS! but that does not mean you can drive without a seat belt umkay

Just take the fuse out!, then when your travelling through the windscreen at a 100 mph ;) the last thing you'll see is your arse going through your brain, put your bloody seat belt on !!!!!

yes its done by removing the key

SWMBO has a luvly set of what I call “Ear Defenders†that she wears when we talk.

I normally wear these in the car to block out those pesky warning sounds. After all I should know when its icy or theres no oil or something shouldn’t I? As for those seat belts they breach me civil liberties they do, I’m not using ‘em. The only problem I had was the Maxidot would tell me as well but I have solved this with some masking tape! This is definitely the way forward. I would also recommend removal of mirrors, who cares whats behind beeping when you’re zooming down the middle lane of the M1 at 44mph? Its the only lane for me, I’ve always been middle of the road.

The trouble is these new fangled cars are too clever. Even though I taped up the Maxidot and blocked out the beeps with me ear defenders, the thing went into limp-home-mode. Well I solved that! I parked it up and limped home on my crutches myself, that showed it!

And now for a sensible answer:

You can either unplug the wire going to the seatbelt buckle and cable tie the plug up out of the way or get someone to code the warning light out with VCDS (this is the preferred method)

Let's not be too quick to judge guys, IIRC you can be exempt from wearing a seatbelt for certain health issues and this may be the case here

Basically the cheapest easiest solution is to use a dummy seat belt clip. I've seen a friend of mine using one. His are made of black plastic and very cheap to buy (something around 5euros a set).

To be honest though I would never buy them as I always buckle up even for the shortest roots. It has become a reflex after all these years. If I don't wear a seat belt while driving I feel like I'm driving naked

This is how they might look like:

Oh by the way don't un-clip that socket from your seat. It's for your airbag!

yes never thought of that, maybe mark's pregnant :giggle:

The airbag plug is yellow, the seatbelt one will be black with just two wires going to it

:-)

fair enough if on a journey, but if you're just popping in the car to move it or park it on the drive way or into a garage it could be a bit annoying

This is the exact reason I turn mine off.

I always wear my belt when driving on the road however

It doesn't come on until the car attains a certain speed so doesn't activate the beeper on mine unless I'm driving around the back of the factory. Driveway/garage/car park manouvres remain silent?

Hope the OP isn't choosing to drive without belts :-/

Isn't it something with EURONCAP gives "bonuspoints" for cars that have the beep?

There also is alot off people who doesn't think like you (i.e. they always drive without the belt) and it's for those people that beep is there.

Have one at work who says that she refuses to use the belt since the belt is too far up for her (she's 1.51).

I told her to use a carseat for kids, the one that bumps you up like 10-15 cm.

Strangely tho, she didn't like that idea.

Her other choice was to sell the car... even stranger, she hated that idea x).

On my superb the seatbelt bong does not start until I am travelling at 12mph, upto that speed the car dash remains silent except for the seatbelt warning light.

At home, my house is 500 yards down a private driveway with a gate at the end so I drive between the gate and house with the seatbelt unfastened.

The wiring to the base the seat buckle is for both the pretensioners which are deployed in conjunction with the airbag and also the alarm, think about it how will the seatbelt pretensioners fire with no wiring go to them.

If you really MUST drive without a belt, (I wont, for more than a very short distance and at slow speed) I would suggest you either get the spare plastic clip as mentioned in an earlier post or if you have trouble sourcing one, fit a proper clip from a scrapped Fabia.(Have a good look at the condition of the belt and the windscreen, looking for damage and blood, braincells, etc) This beltclip should be very easy to find and will fit properly. Just cut it off the webbing!

Or, even simpler, fasten the belt PRIOR to getting in the car, so you are sitting on the fastened belt. This will feel a little odd at first but you will soon get used to it!

DISCLAIMER... PLEASE ASK YOUR NEXT OF KIN NOT TO TRY SUING ME TO COVER THE COST OF YOUR FUNERAL. YOU DO ANY OF THE ABOVE SUGGESTIONS ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Put your seatbelt on, it's not a complicated thing to do and you are legally required to do so.

If your exempt, take your exemption certificate to your dealer and I'm sure they will find a safe way to disable it for you.

Not sure if the Fabia II is fitted with a passenger seat sensor as well (the Superb II is) but if it is then simply by having something like a lunch box etc on the passenger seat will set the alarm off - trust me I have tried it!.

I know I have to wear a seatbelt by law (and common sense) I DO NOT need an acoustic warning to 'remind' me.

Using a 'spare' belt clip or fastening the belt before you get in is just a faff, do the job properly if it annoys you - code it out!

The passenger seat in the Furby doesn't have a seatbelt warning :)
