Boot Closed Sensor

Featured Replies

Where abouts is the sensor to tell the car the boot is shut?

My alarm has recently started going off, and often when driving the light to tell me the boot is open will come on for a bit, then go off. I assume the two are related.

I've had a quick look and gone over everything with some contact cleaner, but is it actually hidden behind some trim etc?

It's in the catch that goes up with the tailgate, it is part of the catch itself iirc.

Quite often gets wet/corroded if the rear washer pipe has leaked.

Ah right, one to have a look at tomorrow then.

Is there a quick way of disabling the alarm while still keeping the car locked?

I believe if you double-press the lock button the alarm is deactivated...

Actually whilst we're discussing this, would this be the same sensor that determines whether or not the boot interior light is switched on or off? If so that's one thing I can tick off my checklist!

Though mind you, I've no idea what I'll do next if it isn't the switch that's broken...

The alarm isn't de activated, only interior monitoring and dead locks are turned off. And yes it's the same switch that controls the light

Hi, sorry to bring back an old thread but I am just starting to have this problem now. car is all lock from the inside before i drive away and then moments after the car beeps saying the boots is unlock and it does unlock itself. is it the lock (orange bit on the back of the boot lid) or a sensor that needs to be replaced? is it easy to do? i'm a bit DIY'ey. Also any part numbers would be great. Saw a lock on ebay so if its the lock mechanisim i might give that a go. I have a fabia 1.4 elegance.

I am thinking this would solve it?

might as well update this....the rear washer tubes had come undone and so water had been leaking onto the rear wiper motor, the rear boot handle and lock (orange bit). I sorted the loose tubes easily with several cable ties and replace where possible with silcone tubes. I tried resoldering the connections on the boot handle, this seemed to be tempermental but it didn't it didn't fix it, unit was damaged. I notice that the lock (orange bit) must have been damaged too as sometime the lock would not open and I couldn't shut the bott unlocked i went inside the car and reopened it again from the lever. In short I replace the rear wiper motor from a newer polo (it just squirted up instead of with the wiper), chnaged the boot handle (PITA to get the bolts off) and replace the orange lock bit. All plug and place once you get the bolts off and this fixed everything.
